Yesterday, I couldn't stop laughing...and I felt so bad. I called up my girlfriend to say "Happy Birthday", and asked her how her day went..she proceeded to tell me...
It seems that when she got home from work, before picking up her kids at school, she realized that someone had broken into her house and stole some money that was raised in a baseball league fund raiser...so upset as she was, she had to hustle to pick up her kids, and as she was speeding down the street, she got stopped by a cop for speeding, but unfortunately, they also discovered that her license had expired. She then was told to leave her car where it was, and they brought her back to the police station, so she could get someone to pick her up, and she left the police department after paying a fine, and having to have someone else drive the car home for her. Her family had also spoke to earlier that week, telling her that they would celebrate her birthday on the weekend, instead of the weeknight that it was on, but when they found out what a horrible day she had had, they all decided to surprise her that night. Now...my friend lives at the end of a long dirt driveway, with no street lights. So as her family all piled up in their cars, and drove to her home, they proceeded to turn down her driveway. Unfortunately, along the way, they heard a thump...and discovered that they had run over her dog and killed it! Oh my God! I didn't know whether to cry for her or to laugh. It was just so unbelieveable...

It's all the worst times of life. No one can escape from these times. Everyone has their bad day. Even though you are smart enough you can't avoid such incidences. But handling such situation is very important. She could be feeling a worse at the whole day. The situation seems to be fun for us. But for her, they are big bad moments. You should not make fun of her, but can say that the situation is very fun. It's not a great misery so you can make her comfortable within a day, by saying that it will happen in lifetime. "Anything you do should not hurt other's feeling."

I guess I was so shocked at that moment of all the things that happened to her in one day, that all I kept saying was "oh, my God...you got to be kidding me?" It was when I got off the phone, that I just started to laugh, but it was a funny laugh, it was a shocking laugh...a result of hearing an unbelievable thing. But, in the end, I think humor did get her out of her depression, because she, too, could see how it appeared, and how absurd it all was!

Too bad you had to have that experience.. With me, what usually happens is that I laugh at my best friend. She could have had a bad day (not too bad, but bad), but neither of us mind. She does it to me too. I dunno. Just be cautious if you're talking to someone who isn't close. I guess that's pretty much it.
