Yard Work |
|
Does anyone else have a Passion for yard work? To me, being able to spend all day every day working on the yard would be a gift. Taking into conside ration the severe extreme weather conditions from hot to cold.. Working outside is one of the best rewards and activities for spending time. "one" of the best - there are a few others that are in contention for 1st place.. Spending time with a best friend is there too!!!!

1. maya_n_bennett (3679) | 4 years ago | I started with my yard this year. It is nice to see the yard looking pretty. I havent got to the part where I can show off to others but when I see my seeds come out and growing, I am very happy.

| Quartzprism (43) | 4 years ago | I believe that everyone who tends a garden does it for thier own personal reasons. I don't work to have a lawn/garden to show, but I have recieved compliments from my neighbors and that is nice! One thing about gardening is that is can be inexpensive to just keep to basics. Depending on your location and zone/climate. you will discover what proliferates best for your yard and with a bit of creativity you will be amazed in a year how rewarding your garden will be:} What is really sweet is the simple act of using "opposites" where creating a garden area:: the combination of plants with dark and light foliage as well as leaf structure is a sure thing! Too, if you are in an area with rocks - those can be a great accent and inexpensive if readily available..!

Yet, with plants the indoor gardening is a good option if the outdoor event isn't practical. Myself, I do not keep but one indoor plant - an Orchid on the kitchen window sill.. I work about 12 hours a day and keeping indoor plants can be demanding. Just keeping up with the outdoor landscaping takes much focus and dedication. I have made up six flower beds this year. Probably borderline obsessive, but it gives me the opportunity to unwind and lose myself from the daily stress of life - not to mention fresh air and a sense of accomplishment. Keeping an indoor garden can be rewarding!! You might give it a go just with some small items. A practical indoor plant that does not demand alot is the Aloe plant. In fact, I need to get one because it is good to keep in the kitchen for those occassional oven burns - They also multiply easily and transplant with little effort. Thanks for responding!!^:^!!

6. blackbriar (6188) | 3 years ago | I have an acre yard that went from barren soil with nothing but weeds when we 1st bought it to thick lush weed-free lawns and flower beds in 6yrs. All w/o any kind of chemical fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides. I'm a strictly organic gardener. I have numerous flower beds on 2 sides of my house, strawberry garden on 1/2 of the third side. Lilies/hostas around all my trees in the front and side yards, wild black raspberry bed along the edge of my property where the woods are, and a garden next to my shed starting this year. Had a garden farther out back but it would always flood at some point during the year, ruining it. Half my property is in a flood zone with a creek running along the back of it so can't/won't even try to plant anything other than trees out back.
Think my passion is a lil in excess? lol I love tuning in with nature and destressing out in my yard in the morning and late afternoon/early evening.
