Cal Poly Pomona Budget cuts leave students bored for the summer.

As most of you might know, California Polytechnic Univerity in Pomona, California, or Cal Poly Pomona, has been had their budget cut, yet again, and all summer classes have been cancelled. Study Aboard and Extented University are still available, but there is doubt that anyone will want to take classes through the Extended University Program because classes are nearly $300 per unit. That is more than $1000 per class for a summer quarter. Many students cannot afford this. Is your school, college, or child's school hurting this summer because of budget cuts?

Unfortunately I think this is happening more and more, in Baltimore the former superintendent embezzled a huge amount of money from the school system and got away scot-free and the school system suffered a great deal, this keeps happening more and more.

It is, even LAUSD or Los Angeles Unified School District got hit hard. They had to cancel their summer school programs altogether, and people now have to turn to the Los Angeles Catholic Archdiocese to get a ahead or get any education at all. I do not believe that Cal Poly Pomona is the only school district affected by this, in fact I think that all of the CSUs that are on the quarter system have been hit by this.

It wouldn't surprise me but it is super depressing, and then people wonder why our children are so uneducated.

Exactly. This looks really bad for our university right now, and our university is now losing it's reputation because of this mess.

I no longer attend school - I'm finished only a year ago. I have not heard of any budget cuts in the university that I attended. I think that's because they've always kept the expenses at the minimum - trying their best to keep the expenses small but still making sure that the students get the best that they can offer. Thanks for the response on my discussion :)

Thank your lucky stars that you are not going to school right now. Here in California, USA, the CSUs (California State Universites) are hurting. The budgets have been cut badly. We have been keeping things as cheap as possible as well, but things are still expensive.

yes, i think here and all over the country. hopefully the new pres. will be able to figure something out. first of all he should work on what he and other officials spend theirselves. so less fortunate people can have small amenities back.

I sure hope so because this is a nightmare. There were 60 Civil Engineers at my university who were majorly affected by this because their surveys are done during the summer.
