Is life and charity fair?

My girlfriend and I have been living in the same apartment for 2 and a half years. Several months ago the owners put the house up for sale. At that time, one of the four apartments here was unrented and the previous tenants of the now vacant apartment left it in need of repair. Soon after the for sale sign went up, the other two tenants left, so my girlfriend and I remained as the only tenants. A very short time ago, we received a letter from our landlord informing us the United Neighborhood Center was taking over as property managers and would be renting all the units to the people in their program, therefore, we had until June 30 to vacate so the United Neighborhood Center could provide temporary housing to the people in their program. The United Neighborhood Center is claiming they only agreed to rent the three vacant apartments. Now our landlord is saying he has a buyer for the house, however, he will not buy the house unless all four units are being rented by the United Neighborhood Center. If the United Neighborhood Center isn't guaranteeing they will rent the apartment if we are evicted, then how can our landlord guarantee the potential owner, all four apartments will be rented by the United Neighborhood Center? If the United Neighborhood Center is guaranteeing the rental of all four units, isn't that the same as saying, we don't care, as long as we get our charitable contributions? Should charities who hurt people be allowed to function as a charity?

What a complicated situation! I find it really odd that the landlord hasn't contacted the United Neighborhood Center to try to solve this issue. Perhaps you could explain the situation to the charity and try to sign a lease under them for your apartment. I hope everything works out for you!
