What is your opinion?

Isn't the big concern here that students might be able to cheat in tests if the mobile is left on in class? That's the way I see it. Mobile phones should be kept off in class and if the teacher discovers that the student is using it, the student should be asked to leave immediately. When my daughter was still going to school (not college) a teacher saw her with the phone while she was using it and it was taken away. I was supposed to go to the school to pick up the phone (school rule) but my daughter was able to manage to get the help of another teacher to get it back.

Students of any school should be allowed to have it on them in case of an emergency and nothing more. That's my humble opinion.

I think mobiles should be allowed. As it does affect those people who use it merely for the purpose of contacting each other.
Like sometimes, if you have a semester exam, and you don't know your exam room, you can't contact any of your friends!! Just for instance and there are so many.
On the darker side, those who abuse it might take advantage as well.

It depends what age the students are but I think that banning use altogether is a bad idea. Mobile phones come in handy for emergencies or contact between parents and their kids. I think it would be better to say that mobile phones should be kept on silent during lessons.

In highschool I can see this type of rule would be good. But, in college... come on! Aren't we adults? In college you get to truly experience what poor choices can do to your life, I think they need to give a little room for people to make those poor choices. If you fail a test because you spent the entire lecture texting your bff.

I go with the first group.i know some of them use it for good.but most of them use it for bad.so i prefer them not allowing them in colleges.people studied before and survived in colleges without using them.i think lot of things are like that.so students must concentrate on studies but not on cellphones and ipods.

Yes, their is a very reason for mobiles to be allowed fro students in colleges and as I have to travel a lot of distance to get to my college every tday via train which accounts for some 2 hours of travelling time. So, without having some timepass, it is almost impossible for me and would feel bored really. I need mobile for listening songs, playing games while being in the train. This things keep me fresh even while I have to be out of my house everyday. Also if some unnatural calamity occurs, then for students they need to have some instant source of communication with them to contact with their family. Thanks for the discussion n Happy Mylotting!!

I think mobiles must be allowed in colleges.The can use it to contact their parents or helpline if they are in trouble.They should not use it in a bad way like giving the teacher missed calls or messaging their friends in class.They should not keep ringtones loud to disturb the whole class.In my college the use of mobile phones was allowed.I never had the vibrate feature so i used to switch off my mobile in class.
