Hi there... I have been playing guitar since I was a 9 year older kiddo'... & My musician Uncles have definitely influenced me to follow on their footsteps... The first guitar solo I've learned that time was 'Wonderful Tonight' by guitar legend 'Eric Clapton'... & I was growing up during the late 80's & early 90's... Bands w/ great guitar player have started to get into my system & incorporated a lot of style in me... Notable guitarist are Van Halen, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Dimebag Darell, Marty Friedman, Kirk Hammet, Paul Gilbert, Nuno Bettencourt & the one that really amaze me is Mr. John Petrucci from the band 'Dream Theater'.

So what about you guys... Who do you think have influenced you more in playing guitar?

I am surprized you left out Jimmy Page. You should spend some time listening to the way the guitar phrases are built and layered and the simple intricacies of his solo work. Jimmy has made the biggest influence on my playing...there is none better to my ears. I dig the names on your list, the guitar work by them is awesome! I think for guitar work, Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin is a school in itself :)

Yeah... you are right! Jimmy Page should have been up there too... But I was telling 'bout my younger years... Though I'm not an active guitarist nowadays, I started to like those old guitar greats, & definitely, Page is one of them... Artist like Chris Cornell & Jeff Buckley have introduced me back to Led Zeppelin... I really like their acoustic progression.

took me years to figure out Jimmy used "alternate tunings" on many songs...I was so frustrated trying to play them and not sounding quite right...then I got a guitar mag and found the truth! boy, it opened a whole other world of guitar for me and now I keep different guitars tuned to different tunings just for some songs. I like dadgad the best so far! (Kashmir, White Summer/Black Mountainside) and have composed several songs specific to those alternate tunings.
