Should christians be rich ? |
| |
| We all know that teh bible says that we should all be our brothers keeper and by that by that it means that we should share with them .Now with that said does it mean that true christians can be wealthy and still be genuine or should they give away the larger portion of their wealth and live modest in the same way Jesus would have doen if he were alive. Dont get me wrong ,not sure I could but just wanted to hear your views on the subject. In addition I am wondering how much do you think is too much wealth ,a million , a billion etc | | | | | |

| | I don't think that there's anything wrong with Christians being rich or well-off as long as the wealth is acquired through honest, legitimate means and that it is being spent properly with helping our brethren :) | | | | | | |

| | They say you should tithe 10% to God, of course if you don't have 10% to give, I'm not sure what he does. I don't think, if you're a true christian, that any amount of money will change who you are on the inside. I think it'd just make life a little easier so you're not stressed about how you're going to pay your bills. If you're sharing and giving your wealth with and to others I don't think there is too much. It'd be like saying there's too much charity in the world. But aren't you supposed to give? You can't give anything if you don't have anything. My brother and I were actually having a conversation about this earlier, if you're titheing to God, who should you give it to? Do you give it to a charity, a homeless person, or maybe a church in town? Where's the best way to tithe your 10%? | | | | | | |

| | I absolutely believe a christain can be rich/well off, I believe if you are a christain you are less likely to be so though. Mainly because I think God would allow that money to come to those he trusts with it to spend it wisely in the fashion he wants. | | funny, i have been thinking this for a while. i dont think christians should be rich (am i jealous? maybe!) but in the new testament church (in the book of Acts), they gave away/sold all their goods to help the poor, so that is why i dont think they should be wealthy. just my humble opinion though! | | | | | | |

| | We do get very confused with money. What is wealth, is it Money, is it Education, being Humble, Being you Brothers keeper has nothing to do with your wealth. Sharing with other again has nothing to do with wealth. Managing Wealth, would have a lot to do with being a good Christian, To manage Wealth so it is on going, In this manner a Good Christian can be better at being his Brothers Keeper. Is it not said, "That to get a Camel through the Eye of a needle would be easier than getting a RICH MAN through the Gate s of Heaven," How true is that. HICCUP/ | | | | | | |

| | This is one topic that people are often confused on and given wrong information so let me break it down to you.. ALL CHRISTIANS ARE MEANT TO BE RICH!! The bible clearly states in Deuteronomy 8:18 that it is God who gives us the POWER to create wealth. In Isaiah 48:17 the Lord declares that "I am the God who teaches you how to profit." There are over 2,000 scriptures in the bible that talk about wealth and prosperity. If you look at all the characters in the bible, not one of them was poor man. From Abraham, Issac, Jacob, Moses, David, Solomon... They all had their trials and tribulations but not one of them was broke. Its the same as Jesus, when he was down here on earth he was not poor! How else do you think he was able to preach the Gospel to multitudes of people?? But in order for one to be rich, rules must be followed, and one must have a prosperity mentality. Deuteronomy chapter 28 is the best example of how one should be rich. Poverty is a curse and a result of disobedience onto God. God is a RICH God and if you are a christian and you are poor, then you are not reflecting Jesus, neither are you demonstrating the character of Jesus. God will entrust riches to you if you obey him and the reason he does that is so you can be a blessing to somebody else. Read the Bible especially the books of Deuteronomy and Isaiah. It will give you and inside look as to why it is God's will for you to be rich. Log on to this website to give you a full explanation of this subject: http://creflodollarministries.org | | | | | | |

| | I totally agree with you. It is God that gives us the wisdom to gain riches. Jesus came that we might experience an abundant life. That was not just "spiritually". | | | |

| | I am not Christian so it isn't my place to say yes or no. All I can say is in the films I have seen during Easter , it is implied that the richer you are the harder it will be to get to heaven. In The Greatest story ever Told there was a line about it is easier to pass a camel through the eye of an needle than to get a rich man to heaven, something like that. I always thought the key is to be the best person you can, regardless of how much you money you have. | | | | | | |

| | Very good point .I think it is harder because of the so many distractions that will prevent you for doing God's will | | | |

| | What do you need wealth for but to maintain your level of living? What are you going to save for? What are you going to spend on? What is the point of hoarding wealth instead of spreading it to others or into the economy (through purchasing, creating jobs, investing, etc.) Wealth does nothing. It is an insubstantial number in an insubstantial account somewhere...which surprisingly can be used to purchase substantial things. Until it is used it is just potential. Those who are wealthy are those who have something substantial. This substance can be emotional, mental or physical. Being Christian and having money in an account does not mean you are wealthy, especially if you believe that true wealth is to have the compassion and salvation of your Lord and savior. If you have this, you are wealthy. Is it wrong then to be wealthy in such a manner? Place this perspective on the concept of wealth and you will see that whatever it is that fulfills you is wealth. If a number in an account fulfills you, then that is wealth. If your friends and family are happy around you and it fulfills you then that is wealth. If knowing you have the kingdom of God in your reach as a promise from your lord and savior, then that is wealth. Looking at it this way...I don't see whats wrong with being wealthy, Christian or otherwise. | | | | | | |
