Is Craigslist a good way to advertise?

It kind of depends on what you're advertising. It works pretty good at advertising open houses, garage and yard sales - from my experience. It also seems like a lot of people search for clothes and other "to-buy" things on Craigslist - I've put up a few ads for ITEMS for sale before - although I've never actually sold anything on Craigslist; it's a little scary to meet someone in person if you ask me.

But for selling things, I would definitely say Craigslist over any other internet site. This way, you don't have to pay those ridiculous eBay fees and you can set the price you want to sell the thing for yourself - rather than waiting for bids and possibly not getting as much as you could. You also don't have to worry about PayPal or shipping. Make sure if you do decide to sell something over Craigslist that you do it in a public place or if you're selling it at your house, make sure someone is there with you (for safety reasons!) And also try to include at least one picture in your Craigslist ad - you usually get more offers if you do.

Hasn't worked well for me at all, it seems very cluttered I'm surprised stuff gets sold. I prefer ebay for international use and another site when selling to people in my own country.

I haven't used it much for anything other than job searching. I seem to have better luck finding jobs on Craig's List than anywhere else, though. A friend of mine did find me some free furniture using Craig's List, too. So, I think it's great! I think you just have to be careful, though. There are a lot of weirdos out there.

It's touch and go. I've had mostly flakes, when people are responding at all. Sometimes, I get some decent responses, and get good feedback from the ads. Other times, I find it better to rely on some of the local publications, for better results, but not always...
