Baby Shower tips

I've attended a baby shower once. They served us pasta, chicken, pizza and fruit juice. They didn't send out invitations, they just invited us personally and just gave the details on how to go to their house.

I guess it would be better to buy ready made invitations, you'll just have to write some details like when and where. I think it's cheaper and some designs are really cute. For the give aways you could bake some cookies, its more personal and I bet the guests will love it too.

For favors, its best to ask friends help. If you have a computer and printer available at home, you can use oslo paper to print those cute custom made invites and give away tags... usually baby showers are attended by the mom or husbands closest friends so it wouldnt be a hassle to have a picnic in your backyard. To save the fuzz of cooking food the entire day, buy party package food tray and have it delivered in foil tray. That way you can save time preparing.

If you search for baby shower games online, you'll find scads of them. Prizes don't have to be anything spectacular, just random stuff from the dollar store. Heck, I did a baby shower once with tons of games... and no prizes at all. Making food or having a few people she knows won't be offended by the request help by bring a favorite/signature dish will make the food cheaper.

Here's a good game that also gets everyone coming involved in a nice gift for the mom-to-be:
make a list of things you need for baby (pacifiers, bottles, bibs, rattle, diaper rash cream, etc). Assign 1 item from the list to each person and ask them to bring it unwrapped. Think small items. Have the hostess buy a receiving blanket. When the game begins, each person has a piece of paper and a pen. The blanket is laid down and the items are scattered on the blanket where it sits for 30 seconds. THEN, the blanket is tied up with all the items inside. The winner is the person who correctly lists the most items. And mom-to-be gets the blanket with all the goodies inside.

You can do some fun cheap games. We did the baby food taste test. Buy a couple dfferent jars of baby food and take the labels off have the guests try to figure out what type of food it is. You can also compile a couple of baby stories about the mom and dad to be, and then have the guests guess which of the two wa he main character of the "story"

Favors - just do a simple thank you card should be enough. You know why? Because the favor is probably going to end up in the recepient's "non-essential."

If it's really that important to have favors - maybe you can do a craft that's related to babies? Not only will it be a favor- it'll also be an activity that y'all will be able to do instead of doing those baby shower games.
