Anyone "bing-ing" yet? |
|
So microsoft released a new search (and decide) engine called "bing" (bing.com) and apparently it's supposed to help you decide. I think it's just a revamp of their old live-search. Just a little more snazzy and more features I guess.
I've used the thing a couple of times mainly to look up maps and stuff. Their maps are more up to date compared to google earth (Yeah I know! Crazy huh). Anyone used it for anything "deciding"? I mean i'm not too sure how the technology works - since it will decide for you.

3. heathcliff (791) | 6 months ago | Bing is pretty and gives good summaries with a simple mouse-over, but it needs a deeper search driver. I gave it my, admittedly biased, favorite search (my novel) and it gave me results that didn't even hit the complete book title until page 30 of the results, and even then it was on a MySpace hit of a friend's page that only mentions the book in passing. Google, in contrast, got the complete title in all of its top 10 results and 12 of the top 20 results were actually ABOUT the book.
I'm not ready to discount Bing yet, but until it shows some growth I would recommend Google.

khayshenz (1093) | 6 months ago | Ahhh- that's really good to know.
I must say this though - big/live search have better looking maps that Google Earth/Google Maps. That's what I mostly use it for (well back in the day it was live search).
Thanks, this is very helpful.
Though the commercial is pretty interesting, don't you think?

5. Riptide (1456) | 6 months ago | I haven't tried it yet. I'm a google addict lol. I will probably eventualy try it, but since it's so new I expect it to still have bugs in it and therefore I rather wait for a little while longer.

khayshenz (1093) | 5 months ago | I've tried it a little bit - and my searches aren't all that great. And I'm still trying to figure out how the thing makes decisions for you. I mean isn't that what the commercials are trying to say? That they can make a good choice for you in terms of search decisions and what-not?
*shrugs*
Maybe I'm just looking into them (the commercials) too much.
Thanks for the input!
