How often do you defrag your computer?

hii dear friend..nice to meet you here..By defragmenting the computer our computer will be good and also computer will become faster..But i wont do defragmentation..When i feel my computer is fully effected with the viruses and it is slower i will Format my compeuter fully..So that it will be good and also fresh..Happy mylotting dear friend..have a nice day..keep smiling..

I never defrag my computer because the reason behind this is very funny . In a month i have to format my hdd reason is sometimes my younger brother downloads some spyware or sometimes he attach his mobile to download . the main reason is i put my computer on 24x7 . and in india it is very hot and i dont have ac in my room so the hdd becomes very hot and creates bad sectors . so in every month i have to format it .

Funny that I see this post as I'm currently defragging. It's midnight and I'm only at 10%. I haven't defrag for months. Actually I only have 6% left on my c:. I need to remove some programs but I defrag anyways.

friend,my suggestion is you should be finishing in time that exist in the following computer junk,so you can make your computer to avoid the paralysis of a certain periond of time,you can extend the life of the computer,i am now on the computer every month to conduct or more to clear the virus.

Defrag doesnt bring more space, a diskcleanup will help you free up HDD space.
A diskdefragger only puts fragmented files back together to speed up data access. Since the HDD is otherwise the slowest component in the data chain, its important to defrag regularly. You dont need to defrag unnecessarily. You can analyze and see what the report says. The easiest way is to install an automatic defragger that runs in the background and defrags whenever needed. I find Diskeeper to be the best.

I don't defrag my computer aften, as it cost a long time doing that. My hard disk capacity is 500GB, And I think it will cost a long time if I defrag my hard disk. I won't do untill I have to.

i also defrag once a month it´s easy there are lots and lots of freeware to do so. it increases the speed also.

we do it about once a month just because if we dont, our computer runs as slow as molasses! i think we will prolly start doing it more often, say, every two weeks just because there are so many viruses out there plus cookies like to attach themselves too.

The frequency for defragging would depend on the rate at which fragmentation builds up, your usage patterns, file traffic on the drive, etc. There is no single magic number suitable for all users.

I don't defrag manually these days since I started using Diskeeper 2009 many months ago. It's an excellent automatic defragmenter, and defrags automatically in the background whenever it's necessary and the system is idle.
