Problem with the CD-ROM |
| |
| For some days, if I insert any CD which is written by us( Not company made),my system is not detecting the content of CD and it is showing like the CD is empty and if we see the capacity of the CD in the properties window, it is always showing as "Free space-702 MB.Total space -702MB". But it worked well few months back. If we insert any CD which is Original(Company made), then I am able to see the content of the CD. I have 4 systems. Two of the systems are behaving in the same way. Is there any driver to install additionally? But I don't remember of installing any driver for that as I have installed the OS many time earlier, it worked well. The main this to point our here is, I will be using these two systems for my online activities. But I am not able to see any virus in one system and I suspect the presence of virus in my Laptop. When I tried to install the OS, I am not able to do that, because of the above issue.Kindly suggest some solution to this issue. | | cd drive, computers | | | | |

| | That means the cd was stored under unfavorable conditions,.since thats not an original and it worked months back it clearly states that the cd was kept under harsh conditions thats why the information is ERASED making it to look like its empty... | | | | | | |

| | Possibilities are more for that as you have mentioned. But these CDs are readable with other systems ( ONLY SOMETIME ,not all the time).I have nearly 8 such CDs, contains the OS of Windows Xp and so I far I had used many times them.As due to the prolonged usage, they might be corrupted. BUt even the newly written CDs are also not detected in my system. I don't know the reason for that still. Thanks for allocating your time to respond to this discussion. | | | |

| | Every one is of different make. But so far they red all the CDs, irrespective of the drive where we burn them. Still some time they used to read the CD and most of the time they are not. Might be the CDs corrupted. But those CDs are readable in some other computers. If my computer is not able to read, then after few seconds, they system start handing and we have to forcibly shut down or restart as we don't have the option to restart or shout down. Thanks for your response. | | | |

| | If there is a problem with my drive or lens, then it should not read any CD. But they are reading well the Company made Original CDs and they fail to read the CDs which we burn and most of the CDs were burnt in these systems only few months back. If the CD is bootable, then they are detecting. Else they fail to detect and also start handing. I think ,I have to bring a professional for this. Thanks for your response. | | | |

| | it is not like your CD driver won't detect any CD.. Actually I had the same problem. normal CDs or DVDs were not being able to detect, but branded CDs and DVDs were reading without any problem. at that time I had to change the lens of my driver. if your each CD is detected before boot then try to check your software drivers or try to update your operating system with latest patch. and of course show your system to professional once :-) | | | |
