[[[[ LADIES OF MY LOT }}}, I could use your help here, I'm seriously needing a perm super bad;
I can't afford to go to the Salon and get one and besides what "few" I've had in my life time they all turned out like CRAP!!!
I have the thinnest, flatest, baby fine hair and I just hate it!!
My hair is short right now and has been the last couple of years at present I need another hair cut too as I can't stand it touching me on my neck anymore;
I know that sounds really silly too, especially when I used to have hair down to my rear-end for many years, but in 1996 when I had that car accident, my hair got shorter and shorter and shorter, even this baby fine thin hair feels like it weighs 50 lbs. or more;
I tried to start this topic yesterday but stupid NETZERO ( MY DIALUP) kept blowing chunks on me too...so I just shut the thing down;
Anyway for those of you who do shop and buy home perm kits, which is best?
What brands do you prefer over another?
I have no clue as I just never buy the stuff...AARRGGhhh!!
I want body in this thin, flat hair, something I don't want to look like a poodle
but I do want some major curl to it;
since we are on the subject too, what brand of hair color is better too?
My hair used to be blondish/red, or should I say blondish/brown with red highlights?
does that make sense?? LOL!!
the last many 10-15 years I keep gaining more and more and more gray hairs,
CAN YOU SAY TOO MUCH STRESSSSS??? I CAN!
TOO MUCH MEDICATION TOO!!!
So in all seriousness, what brands do you use and like over others??
What hair color brands do you find better than others??
Any advice and tips will be greatly appreciated!!
Yeah I used to work at Silly Walmart for many many many many years, but never used the stuff..LOL!
This country woman is completely CLUELESS!!!

I had a home perm once and is was a disaser so I never tried again. Fortunately my hair is ultra thick and i wear it like my avi. Have the same glasses too! Just 40 pounds heavier. For your colour I am assuming that your skin is fair? If so, go for the ash colours and not the golden colours.You coul dhave an ash blone and then have ligh lights added to it. Red can seem a bit hard as we get older. I don't know you r age but I am guessing that if you have grey hair then you are in our middle years. Ash colours are defintely more flattering to older ladies. Good luck witht he perm. I am sure that you will get lots of good help from Mylot friends.

Hey dreamweaverjan! I never have had a home permanent so I wouldn't know what brands to recommend. Sorry I'm not much help. I haven't had a permanent in a long time, myself. My hair is long and straight, almost to mid-back. I'm going to let it get to my waist, maybe even longer. I never have had hair that long before and I always admired it on other people. I would always get tired of it before when it got to a certain length and decide to have it cut. I decided to hang in there with it this time, though. Whenever I do get a permanent, I always have it done at the beauty shop. I know you can't afford to go to the beauty shop but I'm just afraid to do it myself because I wouldn't know what I'm doing and I might make a mess out of it.
As far as color, I get color once a month at the beauty shop. My hairdresser mixes about three different shades of color for me and I don't know what brands she uses. Sorry I'm not much help there, either. I tried to color my hair at home one time and I said I would NEVER do that again!!!! I made the awfulest mess all over the bathroom and it kept running down in my eyes!!!! It was hard to clean up, too!!! From then on, I went to the beauty shop. I just don't want to get gray headed yet, lol
and I've always been proud of my dark hair, too. My hair is dark brown, btw. My mother always got color.
I thought it was so funny when you said you worked at silly Walmart! I go in there about once a month and that place is a madhouse all the time! I dread going a lot of times!
We have a Walmart Supercenter here in Jasper and I live about five minutes from there. Kathy.

HI Kathy: Yeah before the car accident I worked at silly Walmart for YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS...I had two jobs before going on disability..at least with the two jobs
I made enough money to have some fun and do things, Been on disability the last 10 years and I swear it just gets harder and harder to get by each month;
In Fact I don't my Father helps me out a lot...if not for him I don't know what I'd do to be honest;
Yeah I'm afraid really to try to do a home perm but I must have thought about this
during one of my CRAZY MOMENTS..LOL! I don't think lifting my arms up that long
I don't think I could do it to be honest...
but thought I'd test out the waters and see what others thought about home perms;
Good luck with your long hair...I miss mine but I would never be able to stand it again on my neck, I just have too much pain there and you'd be surprised at how much it weighs up against your head and neck when you hurt like crazy;
take a photo of your hair sometime...LOL!

I know I've been saying this for a long time but as soon as I learn how to upload photos, I'm going to post a picture of myself on my profile. My printer is low on black ink right now so I'm going to have to get some more before I can do any printing.
My sister and her husband help me out with my money every month. If it wasn't for them, I don't know what I would do.
We had a good rodeo last night and tonight to benefit the EASI program. I volunteered at the t-shirt booth. I hate to say this but we didn't sell many t-shirts. We had a good crowd both nights, though. Kim Hall, our executive director's little 5 year old granddaughter, barrel raced on one of the EASI horses last night. Tonight, she rode the same horse in the grand entry. She was so cute! Kathy.

OH God Kathy, you're killing me here.......not only do you get to be involved
with the EASI program and help out with the kids/adults to ride and be with the horses when you can, now you went to a rodeo too...AARRgghhh!!
I've not been to a rodeo since my early Twenties in fact I was living in Arkansas
at the time so that made me 21 yrs. old...Holy cow my life just SUCKS!!
I love all things like that even small rodeo's and this one you were at was for such a great cause, its a shame the T-shirts didn't sell any better than they did but
I hope they managed to raise some money its such a great thing that these places
do for kids/adults and for the horses too they all deserve a second chance at life and not become dog food or something you know?
Well at least I can experience this stuff through you my friend and I'm so glad we met up here and that I get to hear all about this from you;
keep up the good work, if I were a rich person I'd help out all that I could;
maybe someday I'll win the lottery..HA!!

I am sorry that I can’t help you with perm information. I have had three perms I my life and with none of them I have had luck since the come out looking really bad or most of my hair burns. Also when I had my perms done they have been in Salon by a professional but I guess that they were not that professional or my hair is not good for perming.
When I color my hair I use the brand that comes with the color that I want to use at the time. But the ones that I normally use might be Loreal and Clairol. I have tried Revlon and it those not work for me the color will come out different and it those wash away fast.
