Cisco is identically with networking. It's good to earn your own Cisco certificate. It quite helpful for expanding your career on computer networking field. You can find alot of content about CCNP preparation test freely on the internet. Just search it on Google. But remember that that's just the preparation or pretest or even only examples. I am taking up Cisco's CCNA course too. I've got to disagree that Cisco's authentication has no authority. I really don't understand what you mean by that but Cisco is one of the leaders in networking equipments industry. Almost everything is connected to the internet these days and because of which Cisco is very much in demand. Because of the extensive use of Cisco equipments all over the world, each and every organizations, groups, and agencies require personnel who is knowledgeable with Cisco equipments, especially the routers. Cisco's certification gives one an instant boost and credibility in the networking world. Their certifications are among the most respected in the IT field.

I personally have two Cisco certifications: CCNA and CCIP. CCIP shares two exams with CCNP: Switching and Routing. I would recommend CCNP certifications for anyone that works as a network administrator for an enterprise enviroment, because this cerification is focused in troubleshooting. I disagree a lot with the person who told you that Cisco certifications has no authority. If you want to know how is the work market, just put Cisco certification as a search term in monster.com and check the available offers.
