would you laugh at jokes even though it is discriminatory, hurt others

Well yes, I can laugh at a good joke, even though discriminatory, but I must learn to accept such types of bad jokes when they are on me. in India we have many states and people of each state are quite unique…so we have these state jokes where people from one state cut silly and insulting jokes about people from other states. This is quite common and everybody laughs at them but we make sure that people of that particular state which we are joking about, are not within earshot.

I should share with you this: in India we have a community of people called the 'sardars'. They are Punjabis actually. You won't believe this may be, but in every person's cell phone, you are sure to find jokes on this community. People belonging to this community are assumed as stupid,unintelligent people who make blunders and have no brains. Every day a new joke on a 'sardar' is made up by someone and forwarded through messages over the cell phone;and people all over the country enjoy these jokes thoroughly. I wonder why these people don't protest,it's about hurting a community's sentiments at the expense of generating laughter.

I agree, some jokes are poor on taste and are very discriminatory or generalizing.
I think that people joke about other people because they don't know much about the culture. Everything different that what they know is under stupid joke...

I laugh when I see it as very funny even it hurts. I cannot control myself, but to avoid insulting the person involve. I always cover my mouth and laugh silently. I do not laugh louder as i know the feeling of being humiliated. I do not like others to do the same things with me. My sister always laugh at me whenever I did something embarrassing. I really cannot control the situation and the way I talk. They find me very funny which I do innocently. I really do not like to appear funny and dumb sometimes. But, it is the way they interpret my action. Anyway, it is their fault and not my problem anymore. They will be the one to feel guilty. As what you mention, any delegatory insult that is directly incline to any Filipino and making the image bad. It really need a sincere apology for making as the object of laughter. he is forgiven but cannot forget.
