Is reading newspaper important?

I think reading the newspaper is important, and I think that it is sometimes more accurate than other forms of media. My reasoning is as follows. Statements made on TV, Radio, and things posted on the internet all seem to have a way of disappearing. If a statement is published in a newspaper, however, there is written record of it accessible by everyone! The media has become more and more opinionated and is not always driven by the facts. Anything that makes it a little more accurate in my book is a good idea. I love newspapers!

Reading the newspaper is very important because the newspaper provides up to date current events both in your own country and around the world.... This way, by simply reading the newspaper, you will be able to keep up with what's going on around you. You will be able to know when and where there's been a big disaster, or if someone declared war on your country you will be able to evacuate because you were noticed earlier than others.

My days used to be incomplete if i don't read the newspaper cover to cover. However, with motherhood and a job, i seldom get to read it anymore so i settle for the internet and tv. I think it is important to read the newspaper to keep oneself on top of what is happening around us. It's a sign of being concerned and vigilant. I may be one of the silent majority but it doesn't mean that i will be just silent and not do anything if ever something would threaten my freedom, life and livelihood. Knowing what is happening around me is my way of keeping watch.

Yes I think it's important but sometimes its a lot easier to be lazy and just watch the evening news. While I agree that the evening news isn't as facts-based as it should be, as long as you don't by the emotional or psuedo-moral crap they offer I think it's alright.

Yes I agree with you that reading newspaper is important. But I guess the only downside of the newspaper is that it always has news already a day or hours old. Information is so fast these days through media such as cable and the internet that the newspapers most of the times can't cope with such as news that need to be updated every hour because of events are still unfolding. Aside from this the newspaper is important to get in touch and updated with what is happening in the world.

I don't say reading newspaper is important, I will say get in touch with the news happening worldwide is important. In this new centrury there are lots of other ways to update you with latest news. I watch news channels every evening. I also read newspaper online, but not in hand. I think that will do. But, I like to have a newspaper in hand and read it whenever I have time, especially on weekeneds.

I would say yes, reading newspaper is important. As you said, we need to keep ourselves up to date. But there also some other way to learn what happen in the world. Yes, you got it, browsing online! Actually, online news is faster than the newspaper.

according to me reading newspapers is very important because as u said definitely its the basic source of information,news and whatever it may be and let me tell you one more thing in most of the countries where english is not the native language people can get hold of the language which is very important.now though many sources came later like tv,net i dont think they could replace the newspapers because its th eonly source available at such a less cost to the common man. happy mylotting......

It is for me. I ca't do without newspaper. They are like habit for me. We read 3 newspapers each day at home. I read after I return home from office.
