Don't be surprised when you don't think you see me next week...

I have been here in myLot for about 3 years now - I think - and I've ALWAYS looked the same. People know me by my icon, saturn is equavalent to reinydawn. We've been inseperable - literally. Well, in a little over a week I will be getting a new tattoo and I'm going to try it on for a while, see if I like it or if I need to go back to my saturn tattoo. Here's a picture of what the new tattoo will look like. It's the shape of a dove with the colors of the American flag - stars on top, stripes on bottom. I've wanted this tattoo for almost 7 years, I've had this fake one since July 4, 2002. I'll be getting my real one on July 3, 2009! This tattoo was inspired for me by the attack on America on 9/11. Within days of that event, I wanted an American flag tattoo, but I didn't want a flat one. I wanted a "wavy" flag. I was looking everywhere for something like what I wanted, and did see it once on a truck. Then on the following July 4th, all the kids were getting fake tattoos that had a patriotic theme. When I saw one of the kids run by with this particular one, I went up to the lady that was handing them out (to the kids) and told her why I wanted one. She gladly gave me one. I've kept this in my jewelery box all this time because I haven't had the money for it and I never really knew where I wanted to put it. I mean, it's an American flag, you gotta put it somewhere respectful. While on our honeymoon, almost 4 years ago (July 1 is our anniversary) we saw a girl with a butterfly tattoo on her back, but not centered. It was about waist high, and off to the right a little bit. She, of course was pretty young, wearing a bikini, and looked great with it there. I think that's where I'll be putting my new one! My sisters had made an appointment to get tattoos done on July 3rd, and when I found out about it I had them check to see if I could get mine then too. We're making a "sister day" out of it! So, as soon as it's "picturable" I'll probably change my icon here. Don't be startled, it's still the same me!!! I know some people change theirs all the time, but this is usually something I wouldn't do.

Thanks for the heads up reinydawn! I'm so accustomed to seeing your Saturn avatar, but I'll try to remember your new avatar when it comes time.

I don't think you've ever changed yours either. If you did, it would take me a while to recognize you!

Actually, I have. LOL Though it has been almost 2 years since I've changed it. Before that I changed it so often, no one had time to recognize me!

That sounds like it will be a really great tattoo, i don't have any tattoo's, i have thought about getting one but I have like a zero threshold for pain (im a weenie, im not ashamed to admit it ) but i still have an appreciation for cool tattoos, my ex was a tattoo artist and I loved meeting all of his friends and listening to their reasons for their special tattoos, so its great that you have such a wonderful and patriotic motive, and it sounds like it will be beautiful

I loved the image. Look for a discussion later. I used it as an inspiration for a community service poster my clients maintain downtown on Main Street. Not identical, but it was a good image to go with.

I am answering from e mail, but it sounds great. Tattoos are still not for me, but the picture you describe is. I hope you and your sisters have a great day doing it.

Well, you weren't missing anything, the picture didn't post (operator error I'm sure). But I did post it to the first response so you can get a sneak peak if you want :)

Thank you for sharing that we us. I think that is a really nice thing to do. I don't see it right now as I saw this in my email, as usual. But it sounds so pretty. It's not just a plain flag and not a flag alone. The dove stands for something and so does the flag. Thanks for letting me know, because I look for the avatar my friends have to find them or know it's them at times.

Well, it didn't upload right, but it's on the first response here. Some people change theirs all the time so you kinda expect it. I know when you changed yours a little bit ago it took me a while to figure out who you were :)

I used to change the furniture around a lot too, but I haven't for a long time. We're kinda limited on what we can do with things so they tend to stay in the same place. There are some people on here that change their avitar so often I think I have new friends all the time!

I too have been here 3 years I believe and I have had 2 or 3. I'm sorry next time I'll let you know. There was this little voice in my head telling me that my friends might not know it's me when I do this. I'm a person that gets tired of seeing the same thing to long in my little life here, my husband said one time every time he comes home he has to see where the furniture is before he sits down because he could go to sit in a chair and fall to the floor because I changed it around every week. I thought that was funny but he was right.

Hey reiny! I think that sounds pretty cool! Sounds like the a really great tatoo! I can't wait to see it! I don't have any tats, but I have always wanted one or two myself! But, since I am way past the age of starting I think I will just have to pass! If I was younger I would definitely go for it! And I think having the American flag as a tatoo is a perfectly great way to honor the flag and our country! Enjoy your sisters day and your new tatoo!

I think my aunt was in her early to mid 50's when she got hers. I'm pretty sure my sister took her to the same place we're going next week. The pic didn't post with my original discussion, but you can see it on the first response.
