The Twin Towers Reborn |
|
Steel from the World Trade Towers was melted down in a foundry in Amite, LA to cast the ships bow section. When it was poured into the molds on September 9, 2003, 'Those big rough steelworkers treated it with total reverence,' recalled Navy Capt. Kevin Wensing, who was there. It is the fifth in a new class of warship-designed for missions that include special operations against terrorists. She will carry a crew of 360 sailors and 700 combat-ready Marines to be delivered ashore by helicopters and assault aircraft. And right now she is docked at the Port of Ft.Lauderdale and everyone their is thrilled to have her there. My girl friend sent me the photo below and the photos on my profile page and the email I am willing to send to everyone that asks with the attached photos if you want to send them to friends. Just PM me and I will send it to you with the entire email and facts and all the photos. She is a credit to America. I had trouble downloading the photos to go with this discussion so I am gonna try to put them in my profile. I hope you can see them there.

1. Ritchelle (1891) | 7 months ago | your information was nice. however, as somebody who just witnessed the news regarding 9/11 it was like, ah, okay with the twin towers being "reborn". however, i can just imagine the hurt again of those who have relatives who perished there. it definitely would bring back the pain they were coping with for a long, long time.

cookiecrumbles (234) | 7 months ago | I am sure that the people that lost loved ones that were never recovered can take solace in the fact that this wonderful ship will fight the act of terrorism in the near future. This ship I hope will make it impossible for a thing like what happened to the World Trade Tower to ever happen again in our life time. I hope you look at my profile page and see the wonderful photos.

3. callarse1 (3084) | 7 months ago | I didn't see them in your profile, nor did I see them in the discussion. Do you have the pictures somewhere? That's good that they are putting the steel to good use. I'm happy that they built a ship! Well, feel free to PM me with the information if you're able to do that. So when was the ceremony and why did your friend attend it? Thank you!
