Is South Africa Ready to Host the World in 2010? |
| |
| It seems that South Africa has done tremendously well in the way the country organizes the on-going Confederations Cup competition, dubbed South Africa 2009. The atmosphere in the stadia were fantastic and one doesn't expect anything but glorious and entertaining moment come Sunday, June 28, 2009, when both Brazil and the USA confront each other to battle for the coveted trophy. So far so good for South Africa. Based on your observation of events in the on-going competition in South Africa, what is your opinion as to the readiness of South Africa to host the world in next year's FIFA soccer world cup competition? | | | | | |

| | I feel good as I watched the matches in Confederations Cup they host. The people there keep singing and playing during the match and the atmosphere is very happy. The problem is, not many people in Africa are interested in soccer and so not many people attend the matches. In the World Cup, however, there should be more people from all over the world to come and watch, I think it is not a big problem. | | | | | | |

| | I hope there will be a better attendance during the world cup tournament next year. South Africa is a great country with thriving tourist sites and great weather. I hope many will take advantage of this to holiday in the country during the world cup. | | | |

| | I belong to your school of thought. South Africa, by my own assessment, scored at least a B for the manner the Confederations Cup is organized. The country has done Africa proud. I'm not a South African but one thing I can't forget about the country is the national anthem. I always enjoy it when they sing it. | | | |

| | Security is the major concern in South Africa. The loss the Egyptian players and officials suffered is unfortunate; that's a serious security breach. I hope the culprits are going to be arrested and punished for tarnishing the image of the entire country. I equally hope that the organizers of the Confederations Cup will use the experience they have got to fine tune the world cup proper and make it a perfect one. Not a few persons is sceptical about the ability of any African nation to do a thing right. South Africa, so far so good, has proved them wrong. | | | |

| | Remember that they already have experience of holding the Rugby World Cup before now, so it not the first event of significance to take place there. Of course the football World Cup is far bigger, but it will simply need the same organisation on a far bigger scale. I remain optimistic that it will be a well-run event. I only hope that there are not too many unruly fans arriving from Europe. | | | | | | |

| | It seems rugby and cricket are more popular sports in South Africa than the rest of the continent. However, soccer is the king of all sports in the entire African continent. With the experience of successful hosting of Rugby World Cup and now Confederations Cup, I feel South Africa will make the whole of Africa proud come next year's world cup season. The fans from different countries in Africa are already planning ahead to attend massively. I believe the fans from other parts of the world will attend massively too and no one shall be unruly. | | | |

| | I haven't heard about South Africa too mich in soccer...unlike soccer South Africa is big name in the world of cricket and rugby...At first i thought South Africa is a amature team...but their proformance in the ongoing confederation cup has changed all that...they seem to have improved a lot going to the next years FIFA world cup...i just felt slight weakness in their defence..if they can improve a bit in that area they might be the favourite to win the cup...and talking about South Africa it is a beautiful african country...the stadiums semm very good...but the most important thing is the crowd...they are very much lively and they are passionate about their sports....their music are also awesome...i think visitor fans will love their stay in South Africa during the competition...so for me South Africa is more than ready to host the soccers mega event in 2010...all the best for them.... | | | | | | |

| | South Africa has won the African Cup of Nations once. However, the country's soccer team is not as better known like the teams from other countries like Egypt, Cameroun, Nigeria, Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire, Morocco, etc. The curent crop of players for Egypt are young, a sort of starting to rebuild a new team for the future. I feel coach Joel Santana has done a good job with the players. South Africa did not qualify for next year's African Cup of Nations to be hosted by Angola. It's going to be an almost impossible task for anyone to predict that South African team will win next year's world cup competition. However, I'm not writing off the team because everything and anything is possible. So far some of their players have impressed me. Players like the 22-year old goalkeeper, Masilela, Parker, and Pienar. | | | |
