Problems with my Sony Ericsson G900 cell phone!

I don't access internet using my phone. So the only possibly way a virus could enter would be through a PC. That's why i said i hadn't connected to any PC.

Yups, I've tried that too. I've installed anti-virus. I've updated the phone software. I've even flashed the phone memory, to no avail. I have no idea what else to do.

hai friends.i have a sony ericsson g900 cell phone.it worked fine for about 10months and then suddenly it stated having problems.when i turn on the phoe then disply will come dark and hanging and crashing allso.it will come restart continuously so 1 month before i had even sent it to sony ericsson service center.they are said the problem is motherboard and lcd.so they are changed m/b,display and software allso updated after 2 months no problem came.but now same problem came again.

when i purchsed this phone 1750aed+1year warrenty(uae dirham)02/10/2008.but now this mobile prise here only 700aed what will do now.please let me know if u have any idea about this problem

god only knows what wrong with this stupid phone. i'm totally sick of it. uuurrrggghhhh!!!

I did upgrade the firmware, but it did not help. The problems did disappear for a couple of days but then they returned. My phone is currently at a Sony Ericsson service centre. And the worst part is inspite of being under warranty, they say that fixing this problem will cost me 3 grands, in indian rupees, thats bout $75.:'(

Yeah, i got the same response too, that i have to change my LCD! I hope that fixes the problem. I really miss using it. Im stuck with my old Nokia 7610 right now. It was kinda cool when it first came out and i bought it, but it just doesn't feel right now. It seems sooo big...:P

I am still using my G900. In the event that it freezes or hang-ups, I just try to restart it via the power button or remove/replace the battery.
The LCD replacement for G900 here in the Philippines is 1,500.00 pesos or roughly $32 (labor fee included).
Hope yours will be fixed as well.

im having same problem. Im planning to have my phone checked today in se. if i'll have the lcd changed, is it adviseable to ask se tech to change it for me or do you have any shops that you can suggest?

I also had that problem after 6 months and SE Service Shop 'fixed' him but 2 days later he had the same problems. Now I've a Samsung Omnia and I'm very happy with it. Tonight I found my G900 back and googled a bit and came here.
And now I'm happy to read that I'm not the only one...

has anyone been able to solve this problem? i've had my phone for just over a year and i have the exact same problem. i brought it to my local phone shop, with no luck. the phone is so laggy it freezes at the boot up screen.

i contacted SE and asked if they're doing recalls since many people have the same problems with it. they said no, just the standard 1 yr warranty. but i have to pay shipping to HK round trip. not worth it. besides, it's been more than a year.

so i took it to my local phone shop. no luck.

I experience the same problem.I regret buying this phone! However as the SE cannot solve the problem I have found at least a short time solution. The hanging of the phone is due to the dust that collects on the processor and RAM memory, that's what the technician says. What you need to do is dismantle the phone and vacuum the inside of it. It obviously wont help permanently but you will be able to use it without any problems for at least two weeks when it gets dust inside again.

After a month of being replaced with a new LCD, my G900 is still working perfectly. No more hang-ups or freezes. It seems the only solution to your problems is a replacement LCD screen.

but reading the same problems and syndrome in this page, I'm reluctant to even bring it to SE service center.

I just uninstall some application. And let see will it helps or not.
next step is going to be a master reset.

Same issue here in Paris. I got my Sony Ericsson a year ago (October 2008) and I've had exactly the same problem for about a month. The service center was not an option since they charged me 20 euros just to get the screen cleaned, let alone changing the motherboard or the screen. I reinstalled the firmware 3 times to no avail. Finally I gave up and I bought a Nokia 5800 that works like a charm. I had 2 other Sony before W800 and K900 that still work great but I think G900's small CPU couldn't deal with all the features, especially web browsing. Also the OLED touch screen may not have been a good choice for this kind of device. I wonder if excessive heat didn't damage something inside the phone since it all started when I was in 40+ degrees heat of Bangkok. Just a thought but there's a possibility that some components couldn't stand extreme heat.

did the LCD change work fine?? CUz the sony ericsson service centre guy told me he has to change the LCD n touchscreen. N i dont wanna do it till im sure it'll work fine. Im sick of those ppl doing things and my phone getting spoilt over and over.

As I mentioned before, the change in LCD fixed all my problems with my G900. Its been months now and it still functioning flawslessly.
Perhaps you can try updating its firmware via SEUS first to see if it can solve the issue.

sir, nvtellan, where did you have it fixed. was your phone under warranty when you had it fix, or did they charge you. im from baguio city. the only problem i have from this phone is its slow, sometimes freezing/hanging. signal weak. but not restarting or screen darkens. i only had this for 10 months now, i bought it at SM appliance with one year warranty. but we dont have any S.E centers here in baguio. i dont want to give it to SM appliance here in baguio because, i gave them my charger which was defective, i got it after 9months. if u can just send me there address. and when did you have the LCD replaced, i would be very grateful.

sir where did you have your LCD replaced, is your phone still under warranty that time? im from baguio city, we dont have S.E centers here.

I'll try to use the waranty which is still running but I suspect my phone provider will do nothing to fix it if the screen or the mother board need to be changed. I'll let you know what happens anyway

okay, ur problem sounds like a thousand times worse than the one the rest of us are facin. I ges its best u get a new phone. I also wish i cud get a new phone, im sick of all the problems wit this phone, but im sooo effing broke right now!!

okie guys i had the same problem with the se g900...plus my touch screen wasnt working..its so irritating since the accept call button is on the touch scren and the only way to answer a call was to put on ur handsfree headset....i sent it to the service centre and they charged me 30 dollars although its under a 15 month warranty...and 1 month later i have the same problem....
DONT PAY THE SERVICE CENTRE EVER U MIGHT AS WELL BUY A NEW PHONE.
Okie i found a problem..its seems to be of loose circuitry...i put my g900 screen facing up under some heavy weights for a night and the next day the touchscreen worked fine....try this out and let me know if it helped yall

hello all...i've read about all your complaints and seems that i'm facing the same problem....my nearest phone service centre tried to reformat the phone,could it've been the virus.....but it didn't work,and he said phones like these always have problems with their touch pads....so he advised me to get the lcd changed for Malaysian Ringgit 190 or US$55..........sigh....

Yes, i too had the same problem. I bought the G900 last year October in India, Chennai. 2 months back my touch screen suddenly stopped working and as it was under warranty i got it repaired without paying for it but at that time they didn't upgrade the software. And 2 days back my phone got hanging and restarting for every call i attend or for every message i send/receive. I went to the service center and they say that they tried to upgrade the software which is also in vain because they say that they need to replace the LCD. I am not sure what to do now. it costs 2100 rs which is considered to be high compared with it we can get a lower end Nokia model itself.
