What's Wrong With the Republicans? How To Fix It?

If you are serious about wanting to fix your party, than it's members in government need to return to the constitution and it's principals, ALL of them and at all times, not just the sections that are convenient and only when it is convenient for them. They must stop the obscene spending that they are just as guilty of as the democrats. They must stop their continual accumulation and centralization of federal government power. They must work toawrds repealing things like the Patriot act, FISA, T.A.R.P. and other unconstitutional pieces of legislation. they must begin standing up for state's rights and authority, this is especialy important because their party name bears the system of governence set up by our founders, a republic . Stop the intrusion of border patrol on our state's highways. Pull back all troups who are at readiness for enforcing civil laws. Cease the blackmailing and bribing of states in to passing laws. Stop stifling "3rd" parties and welcome them to the debate table and in to our government.
I can't begin to list all that has gone wrong with the republican party, but their crimes are as numerous and run equally as deep as the democratic party. Both are a deeply entrenched festering cancer on our great republic. It will take decades to remove the filth that has entrnched itself in our government in th two big parties, as long as people coninue to vote for both of them. I hold little hope change will come from either of the two. It looks right now the only answer is a complete purging of these two boils from the face of our government.

I'm a republican too and I think that we as a party need to start practicing what we preach. The non-religious zealots of the party need to step up and get involved! I understand that it's easy to get frustrated at the messes we have running our party but until intelligent Republicans start taking over the reigns... we are screwed.

We need to start grass root campaigns and make our voices heard. Start locally. Make sure that you are active in local politics. The more that we get the message out that not all Republicans are crazy war-mongering, homophobic, bible-thumping hypocrites, the easier our job will be.

We should also think about opening ourselves up to the more moderate members of the Libertarian party. They stand for what Republicans used to stand for. Personal responsibility, personal freedom and free market based solutions. Seriously check out Ron Paul's Campaign for Liberty. There are a lot of like minded Republicans and Libertarians there that feel the same way we do.

I'm not a Republican so I hope you don't mind me putting in my two cents...lol! To be honest, I have a feeling most "regular" Republicans are more or less RINO's, at least compared to most of the ones we see and hear on TV and radio. I also don't think they all agree 100% on every single issue with the party platform. I think there are plenty of Republicans out in the "real world" who are more like Meghan McCain than Sarah Palin, just as a comparison.

How to fix it? I think what they must do is come up with some new ideas instead of just going against everything the Democrats and President Obama are for. A talk show host made the comment on TV the other week that she hopes the Democrats pass health care reform without any Republican support and that it fails so they "own it" and then they can take over and fix it. I don't think that kind of talk is going to help them get back in power or even get above 25% of the electorate! It's fine to disagree with what the other party stands for but you must also stand for SOMETHING yourself. (Not you personally, your party...lol!)

Stop sending the same old boring moderates up there to run for office, I think most people really want the repub. to mop the floor with pelosi and company's heads. They have to return to the constitution, it's short, to the point and worked until progressives got their grubby hands on it. In 2012 if they even send one of them typical suck arse moderates to run like Mitt Romney, McCain, or Lindsey Grahm I'll puke, we need new blood, someone who knows and follows the constitution.

Republicans should go back to their conservative ways and stop trying to act like democrats. They should also stop throwing their best people, like Newt Gingrich and Tom Delay, under the bus.
