1. babyangie27 (1221) | 7 months ago | For me I usualy just turn off my computer. Listen to some of my favorite music and spend time with my daughter. I will call a friend and spill all my troubles and listen to what she has to say. Sometimes I crawl into bed and sleep,or lay on the couch and try to not let my daughter know what is doing on with me. I will just tell her I am sick and she pretends to "fix me" lol

debrakcarey (1351) | 7 months ago | Hi! glad to see you online! All of the things you mentioned are great ways to decompress. I like that you reach out to others...I think that is very healthy. I've gotten into the habit of being withdrawn....and need to change that.
| |
|
|
babyangie27 (1221) | 7 months ago | Sometimes alone time is good,to be withdrawn from others. In my case my daughter is here 24/7 except for during school. So I have learned to hide things. But I do tend to withdraw in other ways. Like my social site I frequent,I stop going or only go to say hello to a few people,or to post a status, answer messages such. I feel like it's not the same so I ahve withdrawn from there a bit.

debrakcarey (1351) | 7 months ago | I have kinda withdrawn from Yuwie too..used to spend most of my time there. Now...I'm sick of dealing with egos...and cheaters. So I do like you describe...go to say hi and look around.
That is why I am glad to see some friends from there..here.:) I do miss the old days on Yuwie.
I understand what you mean by alone time....and I encourage you to do what you need to do...to take CARE of yourself.:)
Please keep in touch...k?

2. SomeCowgirl (8413) | 7 months ago | When I feel overwhelmed I usually start getting mad and upset. I'll withdraw but not really mean to, I'll just want the attention. I know what I'm doing but sometimes can't control myself from getting mad, or upset. I guess though when I've gotten overwhelmed, the best thing for me to do is to be alone, take a bath or something and then I usually feel lots better. Nothing like getting extremely pissed to make you feel a lot better after you calm down.

|
debrakcarey (1351) | 7 months ago | I understand...some times you just have to blow off steam. lol
And being alone afterward helps you sort out the emotions of it all.
I'm a loner by nature...and when I am stressing...it's worse. I can go a week without going anywhere but work...and my coworkers know when to not talk to me. lol They're a pretty patient lot...and my residents in the nursing home always pull me out of it.
| |
|
|
SomeCowgirl (8413) | 7 months ago | I've had family and friends to know that I was mad, but just rile me up. I guess that's why I like being alone when I do get mad. I don't think that my coworkers have ever known that I was mad, but while at work if I was mad usually customers cheered me up. I'm glad the nursing home does that for you. Right now I'm out of work, lol, but hoping to get a job in healthcare once my fiance and I marry.

|
debrakcarey (1351) | 7 months ago | What sort of position are you looking for in healthcare? We have need of nurses down here in the Ozarks.;)

|
SomeCowgirl (8413) | 7 months ago | Medical transcriptionist and Medical Secretary. I don't know if you can call that the health field really. Although I wouldn't mind also being the one to take people back and take their blood pressure, temperature, etc.

debrakcarey (1351) | 7 months ago | That would be a medical assistant or that is what they are called down here. I would LOVE to become a medical transcriptionist....I love WORDS and received a 100% on 10,000 medical terms when I was in school. Unfortunately, the doctors here are using a new technology that types out as you speak into the microphone....and then the computer prints it out. Nurses laugh at some of the 'typos' that happen. If you don't speak real clear....you get some really funny words.:) Good luck to you in your job hunting...when's the big day? When are you getting married?

3. hornswaggled (1975) | 7 months ago | I'm a hider....I would rather go off somewhere and lick my wounds in private. I've always told everyone I know that if (God forbid!) something would happen to one of my kids or my husband I'd rather just be alone. I know people want to reach out and that they think I need a hug but I'm very testy when I grieve or when I am feeling sorry for myself. I just think I'm better if I just go somewhere to get my head straight and then face the masses....with a plastic smile.

|
debrakcarey (1351) | 7 months ago | We are a lot alike there. It usually doesn't take me long to sort things out..but I've never had to face that kind of loss either.
I have been known to throw a rip roaring fit...when I am hurt or attacked. But when THAT is over...I go hide and cry. I have to be really mad or really hurt to cry.

debrakcarey (1351) | 6 months ago | lol....I am finding that more and more true everytime we post to the same discussion. lol
As for AK47's and water towers...I agree, overkill. I find that people can be made to regret things done to me...in much simpler ways. I 'kill' them with kindness. I've had people come to me and tell me to stop being so nice...it scares them. lol

5. keymandan (741) | 6 months ago | I think I reach out to trusted friends and family. I try to stay quiet when confronted, but also get together with friends and family in some way or the other. Being overwhelmed, in my terms, is being confronted. Sometimes, friends and family are available, and sometimes they are not. When they are not, I reach out to my Salvation, my Savior - the Lord Jesus Christ. He never fails me.
I hope that puts it as succintly as possible, Dan

debrakcarey (1351) | 6 months ago | You put it very well. I had to learn the hard way to be very careful who I reached out to. I still make mistakes in judgement in this area. I want to believe that all people are good...and they are not.
I am learning day by day to place my trust in the LORD. I am human, and HE is God. He forgives my weaknesses...as long as HE sees my heart is trying.

keymandan (741) | 6 months ago | Thank-you. I just wanted you to know that any kind of stress can be relieved by a combination of tactics - one of which is to communicate with friends and family. Another is to offer to help somebody who is in need. Helping others helps ourselves. But, if all these remedies are seemingly unavailable, a quiet meditation with your inner Source, or in steadfast prayer - however you see it or term it - will always do the trick.
So much of the time, we get so caught up in the busy-ness of our lives that we fail to "stop and smell the roses". So, go smell some roses for me. I'm still kind of busy.
Peace, Dan

debrakcarey (1351) | 6 months ago | I prefer lilacs. Roses are nice...lilacs are sublime! Prayer is the # 1 stress buster for me. Especialy since I am learning to put things in God's trustworthy hands. I have to consciously ask him to take over it for me.

6. EliteUser (3956) | 4 months ago | Hey,
Well when I am overwhelmed by life, I just merely deal with it, and it isn't that hard to actually deal with it. I don't really reach out for help from anyone, I just deal with it, listen to music, or post on myLot. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!
