Caught in the Act?!

Caught In an Intimate Act! - What if you get intimate with your boyfriend and some of your friends catch you in the act and start blackmailing you? I have come across several magazines where people seek help for this particular problem in the 'Personal Problem Columns'.But what would be your way of tackling such a situation? Share your ideas with me.

I do appreciate that in some cultures, this could have horrifying consequences, but if it were me, I'd be telling them to go for their life! I was having an intimate moment with my partner, what's the big deal? If they were to realise that I couldn't care less if they were to tell others about it, then they would probably lose interest. If they had taken photographs or video, I'd have a legal recourse as well because they would've been taken without my consent.

Great response! But I agree in some cultures it can have disastrous results. In our country if parents get to know of such a thing, you could even be thrown out of your house! Not to mention the gossip-mongers who are always eager to find something new to talk about. Do you know that an unmarried person here, who acquires a bad reputation, may even end up having no suitors! That of course is only if he/she tries to go in for an arranged marriage. If you are getting married to the person you got intimate with,of course people won't have much to say except turning up their noses and not attending your wedding celebration! ;-)

Yes, I do realise how badly things can turn out for someone caught up in circumstances like these in your country because I lived and worked in India for a little over a year. All I can say really is that people in stricter societies need to be very careful and discreet! It's such an unfair situation at times, but it is what it is.

Blackmail you. Where will they send the evidence? If they're going to send it to your parents, then you are in trouble. Sorry. That is what I tell my children: "Don't do anything which you don't want to read in the papers the following day." If they don't have any evidence, then that it your ticket out. Just tell them that they are simply making up stories to hurt you. Hopefully, you had learned your lesson so as not to create the same mistake.

Hi, oindy54. For things as this, I would contact the police and get some kind of proof that I am being blackmailed. Why would they blackmail a couple anyway? If they are boyfriend and girlfriend they have ever right to be intimate with each other anyway. The blackmailer's must be very mad about something besides the idea of blackmailing this couple.
