food replacement/diet shakes and bars  email this discussion to a friend?

I am going to be starting an intensive weight loss diet. I will be having total food replacement shakes/bars as my main my lunch and evening meal. I have to eat proper food for my breakfast/supper. has anyone done a food replacement diet like this, did it work for you? what foods do you recommend eating with it, i've been told high protein foods. Also do these shakes and bars make you feel hungrier for longer or did it leave you feeling hungry?

I have a friend who has followed a diet based on food replacement shakes and bars. She shed some pounds but she wasn´t terribly overweighed. As for myself, I couldn´t possibly do that. I need real food in my diet, I eat with my eyes as much as with my mouth. But I dieted once eating the same food the rest of the people at the house ate, only less. And had some no-nos: mayo, sodas, alcohol, butter. Once a week, I could eat as much as I wished. After a while, you don´t want to eat so much.
I´m on that diet again now because I put on 20 pounds when I quit smoking. I have shed 2 each month now (6 in total). I have 14 to go and I´ll get there.happy

Thanks for your response, you have done really well shedding 6 pound, well done. I have ordered my shakes and bars they are being dropped off today. I am starting tomorrow. I'm not big or anything I just have to get in shape. I gave up smoking a couple of year ago and gained some weight then which I never got rid of. I will just be drinking water which could get a bit boring and I will miss my alcohol at weekends. Hope I can stick to it. good luck with losing the 14 pounds you want to lose and thanks again.
