Where you a book worm or a geek in school?

Im sorry to announce but i was not a geek in school. I am about to turn twenty four and even talk to the same people i went to school with and still see them out partying and having a good time like i do so i find it very easy to get along with everyone if you still know everyone in town. I was a cheerleader in high school and also in the dance class they offered and was very active in school, but there were the days i skipped and went into other classes and it was fun i loved my high school days even if my grades weren't always the best.

i was a super geek i think..i did study alot& engaged to co-curricular activities..i got awards like the best student in maths& also performed well to the nationals in drama& music that i got a certificate..but i did love to play alot and joke around too..

Hi cbeee3! I'm afraid I wasn't much of a bookworm when I was in school. I hated studying and doing homework!I wasn't much of a geek, either. I didn't discover how much I liked to read until I had my bookstore back in the '80s. I found out that I liked to read more than I thought I did. I loved music, though, and still do. I played in the band and sang in the glee club when I was in high school. I actually enjoyed practicing music and playing records more than I did studying, lol. The only sports I cared anything about and still do was horseback riding and swimming. Kathy.

I would not classify myself as a geek in school however i didnt really talk much so i was quite reserved, i hung out with all the cool kids at school but i wasnt exactly kool either just because i never spoke much however i done well for myslef academically and am now a student at a respected university and now most of the kool kids are working in places like crappy carwashes lol

I loved reading all throughout my school years and into today (I turn 28 in September) but reading was always a private thing for me growing up. When my family was downstairs watching TV I was the one sneaking into my bedroom and snuggling up to a good book. I also like to write myself and both these things I found soo therapeutic and my closest friend (I only had a few) in middle school and in High School would regularly get three page letters stuffed to the brim with my musing and I think I even challenged them to do the same and appreciated that so much growing up. I am not or ever was the kind of person who liked to involve my friends in my heartache or personal problems up front but instead reveal these things in letters to them and in school nothing was brought up and it was just pure fun like you'd expect in high school.

The subjects I excelled at growing up were Science (all kinds), English (but only writing aspects of it) and band (all my siblings played an instrument). I played the trumpet from 5th grade into my senior year of high school but I never considered it a geek thing because my father made us attend all my oldest sisters band functions (he volunteered regularly) so it was just a normal process.

Ironically, growing up I was never the person in the classroom to want to fit in and in fact many of my classmates thought of me as being rather weird because I saw past all the 'rules' that go with fitting into the norms of school. I despised being the cool kid, although encouraged laughter even if it meant pulling teeth. I dont think they knew what to think of me because yes, I was the one who WANTED to sit in the front of class and constantly tried answering the teachers questions just to keep the classroom from being so quiet, I hated that feeling and didn't buy into the 'one answer' deal and often remember laughter when I would go out of my way to challenge my teachers.

In high school it got to be really challenging for me because I had such a passion to learn (still do) but now more than ever it was about conformity and whereas before I was never one to stand out I surely didn't stand back either but in high school I did greatly. The competition was immense and I experienced it at many schools as after my parents divorced I tranferred to 5 different schools in my last year of middle school into my high school. I resented this because I never stopped loving to learn but at the same time I couldn't accept that your only as good as your percentile in class and quite often if you didn't fall into the top category you were left behind. This happened to me when in Math where I started falling behind in algebra and entered Chemistry in Science and got left behind in that because I couldn't keep up in the Math (I LOVED SCIENCE!!).

Never a part of any clubs but my extracurricular in band but even there I never felt quite accepted because it was highly competitive and those not in the top half of even band were considered just 'minglelers' and not worth the attention and my joking about their taking themselves so seriously didn't help either. I HAVE had quite a few people call me geeks but people younger than me I guess like my dads stepdaughter (back when I was 20), my exes neice (When I was 22), mostly teenagers. When I was in school I think was just weird because I chose to ask too many questions.

i think i am kind of geek king here, idont know how i went to university when many classmates cant .let me tell you something about my middle school,i do all bad things t=other boys do,besides i am the only one who was choosen not to leave school before ... by history teacher,politics teacher,and phisics teacher at the same time, you know everyday... oh mygod . and the only one my teacher asked not to have a deskmate for 2 years coz i always talk ...

Lol hell yeah I was. I was, and still am a huge geek. I love to read, and always been a book worm. Hell english teachers loved me since when they would tell everyone it was reading time I would quickly pull out a book and start reading while everyone else complained. Get done with a test or something and I would pull out a book and read.

I was like book worm.But for story books. i had always been a topper in my academic life. I was also good in dancing, recitation and painting.

I was a geek in school...I studied and competed in academic competitions. Most of the people I hung out with were the same way. But they were also some of the most popular kids in school too. Plus a couple of the cheerleaders graduated with honors!
