It's just been announced today that Senator Roland Burris, the controversial gentleman who currently holds the seat vacated by President Barack Obama, will not run for election in 2010. He's reportedly going to announce this tomorrow (Friday) by issuing a statement but he doesn't plan to take any questions from the press.

According to the article he doesn't want the last four months in office to be his legacy after 20 years of public service.
Any thoughts?

That's great! I don't think that the governor should have been able to appoint someone after everything came out. Now, hopefully someone that is ethical can be elected, well, as ethical as politicans go.

I agree, Blago should never have been able to make that appointment. Burris disappointed me, in the beginning I thought he was a decent guy but as it turned out he has way too much baggage to ever get elected. Apparently he hadn't raised any campaign funds to speak of so he had no choice than to not run.
