How do you react when you are tensed(sad)? Cell phone off? Shopping?

I always keep my cell phone off when I feel sad or tensed. I also go for shopping and buy a lot of things (some I might not be useful). Sometimes I go to good resturants and eat as much as I can. Then, I go for a sleep. By the time I wake up from the sleep, I will be out the the tension or sadness. Sometimes I talk to my best friend about the problem. What will you do when you are really tensed?

Yes, even I can sleep much when I am tensed. There are people who sleeps a lot when they are tensed and will come out of the tension. Yes, like you I too feel to be alone during the time of tensioon. Mylotting is also helpful. I feel relaxed working on mylot during my tension time. Usually talking to people, especially our dear ones is a good stress breaker. Thanks for the response.

Neither. I dont have a cell phone so no question of switching it off. I am in financial problem, meaning no money, so no shopping either. But there is one thing people like me can do and free of cost when they are tensed. Silence. Sit in meditation and try to focus ur attention on positive thoughts. Breath deeply and ur system will recharge to face life again. All this for free. I tried this from several years and am happy. Just lately i read a book titled'The Secret'. It was exactly what i was doing all these years. Think positive even when ur in the negative.

Hi Preethanju! Thanks for your response. You always make me laugh with your responses. Yes, you can't switch off cell phone if you don't have one. Lol. It is advisible not to waste money by shopping too, especially in this time of recession. Lol. Even if you are shopping, make sure that it is not the time you are tensed, because if you are tensed you will end up in buying a lot of unnecessary things and thereby a lot waste of money. I have heard a lot about the book 'The secret'. I want to read it badly. I have even seen discussions about that book here, and many of my freinds have told me about that book. Yes, the things which you follow when you are tensed like meditation are really good in bringing down the tension.

Yes, I agree with you that food can do a lot to change your mood. I do eat a lot during tensed time. I end up eating a lot and when I think back I don't understand how was it possible for me to eat a lot. When I have stomach full of food, I will feel tired and have a good sleep. I am happy to know that many people other than me practices this. Thanks for the response.

I don't switch off my cell phone however tense may be there for me.Since I have it mostly for business calls I never switch off.Rather I try to leave the place or people who makes me tense immediately. As you have told, eating out heavily is one sort of reaction and other is to watch silently some tv programs.Cheers!
