Least Favorite JD Movie |
|
Okay, so I am a huge, huge, huge fan of Johnny Depp. It is my life's goal to collect each and every movie he was ever in - however, there is one movie that I just cannot stand no matter how many times I try to watch it. Private Resort.... The only good thing is that you get to see his bum, if they didn't get in a bobdy double, but I found that the plot was lacking, JD wasn't the main character, and even though the cross dressing was funny - the writing sucked!!!

Swashbuckle (135) | 6 months ago | The bum part is the only part I watch, but I watch it when I am very, very depressed. Like, Emo depressed, then after I see his bum its all good in life again!*lol*
Well, I suggest you rent it, if I had seen it first I wouldn't have bought it, but the reviews at amazone were pretty "Oh this was a good movie" and blah. So I got swindled. I want to go back and re-do the entire thing. That's the writer part in me. The plot is a good concept but they didn't do as much with it as they sould of.

2. unusualsuspect (2413) | 6 months ago | I think Johnny Depp is a fine actor, but I really do hate some of the stuff he does. The Willy Wonka movie is the worst, and his character in the Pirates movies is just about as obnoxious. I've never heard of Private Resort, and from you said, I guess I can probably skip it. My favorite movies of his are Dead Man, and The Libertine, but I also like some of his earlier ones like Benny and Joon and Edward Scissorhands.

| 3. madeline841 (22) | 6 months ago | I've seen every movie he's been in, but not the TV shows, just 21 Jump Street. I can't say that I have a least favorite Johnny Depp movie. He delivers perfect performances in every single one of his movies. What I must admit is that I find the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise a bit dull. I mean, yeah, he deserved his Oscar nomination, but on the whole, these movies were pretty shallow as opposed to others, they're just supposed to be summer blockbusters. I dislike watching too many times Once Upon A Time In Mexico due to what happens with his character. It's not JD's fault, nonetheless.

Swashbuckle (135) | 6 months ago | 21 Jump Street was the only television show he did, I am not counting the random interviews or random brit sitcoms he might have had a fleeting appearance on.
Pirates, ah! I re-discovered my love of Johnny Depp with pirates. I even researched the historical pirates and even though Disney's timeing and all that is wrong, especially with the corset thing but I can't explain that all that well, they got the essence of the Romantic Errol Flynn type of Pirate movies, and put a new spin on it. Honestly, Pirates has to be the top of my list of favorites. But that's just me.

| 4. madeline841 (22) | 6 months ago | I meant the.. random episodes. The ones he did at the very beginning of his career and the Spongebob thingy from nowadays. Weird how he can't stand watching himself in anything, but would do anything to please his youngsters. I'm really looking forward to going to the cinema and watch The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus, Public Enemies and the oh-so-grim and promising Alice In Wonderland. Tim Burton and Johnny Depp are the perfect combination in terms of successful moviemaking. Back ontopic, I remembered finding The Libertine quirky and obscene, yet clever. I enjoyed it, although it's not too high up in my top..I think Before Night Falls was the biggest surprise of all, to me. Simply brilliant.

| 5. bizybee06 (8) | 6 months ago | I love Johnny Depp. He could be in a two hour movie and I would still probably give it five stars. I have never heard of the movie you are referring to, but if even a tiny part of him was naked he could not have been too bad.

Swashbuckle (135) | 6 months ago | That's the only part of the movie I watch. Otherwise I totally cannot stand it becaue the writing and the plot is so stupid. I really wished that they had furthered the plot, it was a good premise but the way they executed it was just horrible and not even JD could save it. heck, he wasn't even the main character. It was really disapointing because Bob Morrow was the main character, but JD's face is on the front cover plain as day, no one else is with him.
That's just horrible in so many ways.

7. LincecumFan (123) | 6 months ago | Well, I didn't like Sleepy Hollow. That may be because I've seen the story so many times, though. I loved Benny and Joon, hadn't seen it when I first came out. Edward Scissorhands is the only movie I caught my son crying at when he was about fourteen, lol. I didn't let him know I noticed. It was a beautiful movie. I don't know anything about Private Resort.

Swashbuckle (135) | 6 months ago | I like Sleepy Hollow because its a dark story, with more plot than romance. I hate it when the romance takes over the story unless I know from the beginning that its a romance story, like 'Chocolat' - I knew that one was a romance so that part didn't bother me, the same with Don Juan Demarco and so on. I like my movies, gory, bloody and interesting.

Swashbuckle (135) | 6 months ago | POTC reminded me of my 'love' for JD. He is mostly my muse when it comes to my writing. I particularly love Captain Jack Sparrow, and thank heaven that Zack Effron isn't going to be in the 4th movie, because he'd have ruined it beyond repair!*lol*

9. x_Jo_x (701) | 6 months ago | I havent seen that movie, but i do love Johnny Depp! I think he is an amazing actor! And even if the script is terrible he somehow manages to work with that and makes the movie just about watchable. I think the succes of a movie depends on firstly the script and the skills of the director, and secondly the actors and their ability. JD has mande so many great movies, its impossible to pick the worst one! I watched "From Hell" recently, I liked it but i thought the ending was just terrible! Johnny Depp just dies! And then thats the end! I was expecting him to go off with the girl and they live happily ever after or something. I Know that not all endings are happy, and its good that they are not, but still... i was just expecting something a little more than what happened. Have you seen that?

|
|
Swashbuckle (135) | 6 months ago | I cried when JD dies in "From Hell" there is an alternate ending to the movie as well when he's an older man and dies as well. That movie is one of my favorites because it is dark and I like history and no one has ever been able to solv the Jack the Ripper crimes.
JD can do a lot with a script if he is given the freedom to do what he needs to do. But this movie was early on in his career and he wasn't the main character. That's what disappointed me a lot, because if he had been the main character, he'd have to crossdress and I admit to kinda liking him in dresses!*lol*
I watched the first part of 'The Brave' on yourtube last night. I know its about a snuff/pron film and he's gonna get money for his family, I haven't watched it all the way through, but from what I did see, I know that I will have to have a lot of patience to watch it all the way through in one sitting.

10. sysdexlicwriter (1139) | 6 months ago | I guess when I watch a movie I first try to consider the person playing the part from the perspective of are they just trying to break into the business or are they an actor/actress that is at the top of their field. It sounds like the movie that you dislike may be a movie that Johnny did earlier in his career. Since I have not seen all of his movies, I guess I can't give a straight answer to your question. I like the off-the-wall roles that he takes and I guess one of my favorites is "Cry Baby" or any of the works he has done in the past ten years.
