if you were a movie producer would you go head to head with transformers 2?

i just learned that there is a johnny depp movie that was actually third in last week's movie rankings with transformers in the first spot followed by ice age 3. it just made me wonder why, though johnny depp is a great actor (not to mention that he has an oscar winner as his leading lady), was his movie released at the same time with 2 technically enhanced movies. it looks like a suicide for that movie.

personally....heck no. Transformers has a huge following and i think that its release after Star Trek was a good move on both Paramount's and Dreamworks part. I would have done the same. that way both movies had a chance to work their magic. in fact i really need to see both movies again.
