"The colony"...a new reality show with a dark twist

I recently heard about a new reality show premiering on the Discovery channel entitled "The Colony". Here are the basics of it.
It puts 10 people of various back grounds in a post apocolyptic scenario and forces them to survive and rebuild society using only what is available. No electricty is first available, no running water, no food, etc. They must scrounge and rebuild a new world. Out side gangs threaten security just for added exitement.
I am not much in to reality shows, but this one sounds like on I can get in to.

This does sound interesting and I had not heard about it. It could offer insight on self preservation and actualy teach us all a few things. Appreciate the information.@xfahctor (14113)

Wow, lol, i don't realize someone had even responded to this. Anyway, I have seen the first two episodes already, GREAT show. Before they introduced the group to their new environment, they put them through 36 hours of sleep and sensory deprivation too, just to heighten emotions, confuse them and introduce a more realistic atmosphere. Also, they only brought in the forst half of the group first. The next half was introduced to the compound as a band of wandering survivors looking for shelter. Neither of the two groups knew about each other until that moment.

i never even heard of it. i guess i'll look at your link to figure out what channel it was on. its probably off by now. the funny thing is that i probably would have watched it had i known. for Survivor and Big brother (which im watching now) is my favorite show on tv

This is far better and more intense than survivor and big borther. the show is still running, I think it's in it's 5 th week now, but you can catch reruns of ealier episodes as they are palyed a lot. You can find it on the Discovery channel at 10 pm eastern standard time, reruns are aired through out the week and you may even be able to find them online.

I have been watching the show since the beginning and do enjoy it. Ten individuals fighting for survival without government intervention. During Katrine all we heard about was why the government is not doing more to help the people of New Orleans. This show proves to me that even at the worst of times the power of self determination will prevail.

Isn't this the most amazing reality show ever? lol, and I HATE reality shows. I get your point, it is a great expeiment in human ingenuity, in addition to spychology and such. I think most people would like to think they could survive on their own in any disaster or apocalyptic scenario, though I think many would be in for a ruse awakening at exactly how much they would have to provide for themselves.
