there is this this guy that comes over to our house to hang out. from the time he arrives, the firs thing he mentions is what time he has to leave to go to his job. every hour after that, he talks about how he has to go to his work. we will be chilling out, watching a movie, eating, just enjoying the relaxing vibe of the moment. all of a sudden, he will start talking about his job, his boss, and how he has to go to work. this is becoming very annoying. is he just a work-a-holic, or is he just trying to get us to beg him to stay. after a while i just want him to go to work already. give in put, i gotta go have noisy people around me, watching me type, but never really interested in what i am doing when i invite them in, so....

It could be that he is just stressed out and he wants someone to feel sympathy for him. Maybe you should comfort him because from what you said above really doesnt sound like he is a work-a-holic. Sounds more like he either wants attention, sympathy, or he is just letting out "steam" so to speak. If he is saying negative things then the above would be true but if they are mostly positive then maybe he is just showing off his job so you guys will be jealous and him telling you the time he has to go to work might be an attempt to show that he is "working hard".

actually you are right. i think it is all of the above. especially the sympathy thing. you hit it right on the money. he is CERTAINLY a sympathy getter. it's his whole skit to get what he wants, and get out of rough spots. it works for him almost all of the time, too.
