i am 27 years old and i already have a problem with receding hairline. 2 years ago i discovered propecia. it is a finasteride drug manufactured by merck to prevent hair loss. at first, finasteride (proscar) was used for the management of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). later on, they learned that finasteride does not only treat BPH but it also stopped the progression of hairloss. so merck decided to test the drug amd to make the long story short, they came up with propecia. now, although propecia is only 1mg and proscar is 5mg the price difference is very small. what i do now is that i buy one proscar tablet and divide it into four. for years now, my hairloss has been minimal but i'm still a little worried because i don't want to be bald. i also want my hair to grow thick and stop my receding hairline. what can you advice? i've tried minoxidil but it doesn't really work for me. i was allergic to it.

I think one thing that's causing you hair loss is stress. If you worry to much, it speeds up hair loss. I think you should try to relax and enjoy life. Have you tried the natural way? Like using aloe vera extract to wash your hair? I don't know if it does work but i think so. lol! Are you married? If yes, then i guess you don't have a problem if you'll become totally bald. If not, why not shave them off? I think you'll look better than having bald spots.

I actually prefer to have short hair that is why I do not use propecia or proscar for hairloss.

psphacker do you also have problems with hairloss? well, before i actually tired cutting my heart short. sometimes i even shaved it. i did it because i was thinking that cutting or shaving my hair will actually prevent my hair from falling. however, i still had receding hairline. then i did research about hairloss and read so many articles about then. i learned that cutting your hair short doesn't actually stop hairloss. although, it might have some positive effects like it slows down the progression of baldness but it's just like delaying the inevitable. then i discovered propecia. it decreased my falling hair and now i'm more confident having a longer hair. the problem is it's too expensive. so you have never tried unnatural means to save your hair before?
