Hi All, A lot of my friends seem to have a fear of clowns. Why is this? I think many a times clown is projected as serial killer, a ghost especially in The Dark Knight movie the clown was projected as stealing money from Banks. Also clowns are displayed as small figure body with short legs, short hands and many more reasons. Is this the reason everybody is feared of Clown?

Im not so much scared of clowns on tv as i am of them in real life. Theyre just freaky looking! It might be because out that movie called It by stephen king. I never made it through the whole movie. I know every year at busch gardens that have halloscream, and one part of the park is completely clowns. They have two nice clowns at the front gate to get you to come in, and they give you balloons and stuff and tell you cool stories, but then when you get inside theres a bunch of crazy deformed looking clowns all over that chase you around the park. They only go after you when you look scared though. If you come up to them they get bored. The good part is theyre not alloud to touch you. I think if one of them came up to me and touched me id pass out or something. Ive never had one chase me either though. Even though im horribly terrified, i act like im not scared at all, that way theyll leave me alone.

Because movies have told people to be scard of them. They depict them as scary and as murderous/devious and then people see them in real life and relate to them in that way. I remember I once had a clown doll that my dad had made for me after him and my mom divorced. It was my favorite toy. Then my brother told me about the movie Poltergeist and the clown doll trying to choke the boy. After that I wouldn't touch that doll with a ten foot poll. If it weren't for horror movies would there be a fear of the dark as much as their is today? Or clowns for that matter? Nope.

hmm now that you've popped the question. I must admit I'm pretty freaked out whenever I see clowns. But only because I've seen ugly ones in movies with faces that will really send chills down your spine.Evil Clowns or somewhat but I guess if it's the cutesy kind I won't be that bothered .. that's the word! I'm not actually scared of them. They just make me uncomfortable:)
