Are you a good Listener?

I am a good listener. My husband has admitted that. I like to listen to people than talking. I enjoy listening old people especially. They have a lots to talk from their experiences and at the same time they havea a lot of grivences to say.

If I say that I am a good listener, it will be like blowing my own trumphet
. Yes, I can say with conviction that I'm a good listener and I love to listen to others. I feel others want to share something very important with me, therefore, they are talking to me. By listening to them, I'm giving them an opportunity to vent out their feelings. Also, if they are going to tell me some useful information, I must listen to them, may be something important is there, which I should not miss. Above all, I've observed that everybody wants to speak and wants to tell his/her side of story, however, there are less people who are interested in listening, therefore, if I can be a 'listener' for someone, I'll be too happy to play that part.

It is nice to find one more listener. Yes, wer are respecting somebody by listening to them and spending our time to hear them, their stories. I feel it is great to be a listener. People like to express their feelings to others. A person who finds a good listener is very lucky I feel because there are only very few lsiteners. Thanks for the response.

Listening to old people is an art.You should have lot of time and patience.And some old people are poor speakers as they don't mind the opponent's mentality.They just try to pour out everything they want to.Only a few are good at narrating things interestingly.And if it happens to be a question and answer session then it will be useful for both.No doubt,sharing the experience from people is good but if it is going to be over dose,don't count me in.Cheers!

hi daliaj,
i believe i am a very good listener, i am shy and don't talk much, but i have better receptive side....i mostly like to listen to friend's discussion as in a group and yeah i too sometimes like to listen to older people talking about life, there are many things to learn from elders.... wisdom and knowledge.... one can have them when they learn to grasp them.... good listeners have a lot of advantages i say...
