To me when I see a nurse eating in his/her scrubs in a restaurant it grosses me out thinking about them being around blood, urine and germs all day yet they are wearing them out and about.
Have you considered that perhaps they are on their way to work? Or perhaps they do what I do...pass medications. I never have to even touch the people I help take care of. NOt all nursing jobs are bloody or dirty. Some work in clinics and have desk jobs. RELAX! Their hands are probably cleaner than the people preparing YOUR food. :)
