you need to have an account in google (gmail will do)
go to my account and select webmasters
follow the procedure.
google will scan your blog to index it.
the time taken to scan depends on the content of your blog.
more content means more time.
average time taken 6 to 8 weeks.
even if you do not submit your blog google routinely scans internet for new content.
however this may take more time.

You should submit your sitemap or RSS Feed to google. Try looking in google web-master tool.
