Do you keep receipts of your purchases or do you throw them when you get home?

I’ve learned a good lesson today.. The other day I brought a laptop cooler from a store and the sales lady told me there is a 7 days warranty in case there is a factory defect. I was using the cooler and it was working just fine when suddenly after a day it stopped working. I went back to the store with the cooler I bought but I was told they can’t replaced the item without the receipt. I know I shouldn’t have thrown away the receipt when I opened the package. But I never thought the cooler will suddenly stop from working. I have bought many times from the same store and all is working fine till now so I threw the receipt. Besides, I am always like that. After purchasing something, as soon as I get home, I throw the receipts in the garbage. I don’t like pieces of paper crowding my wallet or hand bag. I don’t like seeing receipts placed everywhere inside the house, on my tables, on the TV, near the phone or just anywhere. I look at it as garbage and sometimes my pets play with it and its bad if they swallow paper. When I was still living with my aunt I remember she keeps receipts. Whatever she buys she keeps the receipts. I asked her once why she has to keep cause she has no use for it but she says, no reason at all, she just likes to keep them. So when she died, I saw a lot of receipts kept in different places with no use at all except that it’s garbage. What about you guys? Do you keep the receipts of your purchases and for how long? What kind of receipts should we keep?

OMG that is dangerous! Good thing it's just your son's knees that got skinned. And very clever of you to have kept the receipt of the bike you purchased. It sure did served it's purpose of keeping it. Happy posting!
