| |  Some of my favoruites are Loui Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Duke Ellington (if you consider him jazz) and others from that era. If one is a guitar player you absokutely CANNOT leave out Less Paul, father of the electric guitar and style. George Girshwin of course deserves honorable mention here, many consider him to be the godfather of early jazz and he certainly influenced a great number of later jazz artists.
