Who thinks that unschooling is a terrible idea?

Maybe I am just fascinated with the way group dynamics affect the learning process, but to me nothing is better than a traditional education. How do "unschoolers" fare in college? Let me know any insights about it.

I know of a pro football player (last I heard he was playing for the New York Giants) who was home schooled. And he had a scholarship to some college to play football, in Arizona I think, that he won between his grades and his playing in the league with home schoolers. He couldn't have gotten a scholarship if his grades hadn't been good enough. In fact, most of the problems I've found that home schooled children is that some of them are unprepared to the pressures of their peers once they get into college. But for every one that I've heard of getting in trouble, 4 of them are fine. And 20% isn't bad, considering how many children in public school end up in trouble...

personally I don't think I learnt too much at school, maybe only reading and writing but I can honestly say the important things I learnt from my parents, things like common sense and about life and living in the real world..I think school should teach more things about what is going to affect the kids in the future and teach them how to survive rather than teach them a lot stuff that never comes up again...maybe even more choice for the the kids to pick what they want to learn about..
