I really love traveling and like to stay healthy on my travels. In some countries it isn't possible to drink the tap water so I buy bottled water to stay safe. Often the water is safe but tastes horrible. Which countries have you had to avoid drinking the tap water? Have you ever got ill from drinking water that hasn't been drinkable?

Limited by initial investment, in my place, tap water is never drunk unless boiled. I did drink tap water when visiting some european countries, but as with america, never. Whether detroit of san franscico, better drink bottled water. I did have trouble several times.

This reminds me of the time when a friend went on a trip to India... she was advised to bring her own water because they are not use to the kind of water they have there and might cause them an upset stomach... so she brought like a gallod of water with her... such a hassle when one is to go visit different places there...

Mexico. Even in Cancun or Playa del Carmen I would buy bottled water. I'm not taking the chance on regular water.

I have never been sick from drinking tap water, but I do not have to travel to not be able to drink the water. All you can do with the water where I live is wash with it and even that is probably not a good idea. And I live in the U.S., there are areas close to my home that have been abandoned because the water is not safe to drink.

Hi maximax8^^,, I know in some country tap water is drinkable, but I don't know which country it is exactly. In my country you can't drink tap water or you will be sick, either have stomach ache or diarrhea,,haha.. I suggest you to never try drink tap water in my country. Better you always provide yourself with a bottled water to stay safe. Oh, and the answer to your question is I don't know, I don't really care about drinking tap water since I'll always bring a bottle of safe water and the idea drinking tap water still sounds too good to be true for me in my country..
