you're in the newspaper

Have you ever sen yourself in the morning newspaper or now a days on the morning news show? Or even worse in the trash papers as you stand at the check out stand in the grocery store? What would you do? Deny,hide, or just grin and bear it. I was raised in a small town and my Father was well known, every once in a while there would appear an article in the local paper about him, this was not always complimentary. We never knew until we went to school and the other kids started teasing us. you grow a thick skin fast being raised with that. I learned to just grin
many kids thought I was retarded because of that. But it was easier, my brother got to be a pretty good fist fighter but I couldn't do that.

How I would feel finding myself in the paper would depend what I was in the paper for! I could be feeling very proud or very embarrassed! I’ve had articles published and that was positive.
Your school years sound a bit rough Pat due to your father being negatively mentioned in the paper. Some may have thought you were retarded but it sounds as though you handled the situation in the most intelligent manner possible.

Well i guess it would all depends on the situation if it is something good then I guess I would be proud of it but if not then I guess I will have to live with it lol but I guess I wont and will never be on any newspaper

Hi Pat...our local paper features each week a question asked and answered by ordinary citizens. I was one of those who answered a question a number of years ago, and did appear in the paper, picture and all lol. That and a few letters to the editor plus birth and wedding announcements round out my experience with the "press."

I found myself in the local newspapers twice. Once pressing the start button on a new computer that just had been installed at my work. The second time was in a group photo in a local club. These are my only claims to fame and the pictures were tucked away in a corner of the newspaper on both occasions. It was very surprising however the number of people in the neighbourhood who told me that they had seen my picture in the paper.
