10 ways to Earn Some Extra Money for College |
| |
| 1 Scholarships. There are hundreds of scholarships out there. Are you part of a specific ethnic group? Are you left-handed? Are you a single parent? These are just some of the categories that can qualify you for a scholarship. If there's something unique or special about you look it up, there may be a scholarship for you! 2 Financial Aid. Almost all students know about financial aid, but I thought this one was still important to address. Apply for financial aid even if you don't think you're eligible, you might be surprised. 3 Savings. Start saving as soon as you can. I've known people who started saving as kids and were able to pay for their first year of college! Find a savings account with the highest interest possible and start saving! 4 Contests. There are plenty of contests out there meant for students who are going to college. Duct Tape has a contest where if you make your prom dress and tux out of duct tape and send in a picture you can win a cash prize. If you have a special skill look it up and see if there's a contest relating to it! 5 Work Study. Many schools have a work study program for students. Look into it and you can make money to help pay for tuition. 6 Part-time jobs. Off-campus part-time jobs can also give you some extra cash. Look in the area around your school and see who's hiring. Many business's will hire students for the school year and let them go on leave during breaks. 7 Local Organizations. Were you involved in scouts? Are your parents part of any local organization? If so they may have some money to give you. Look into, there are plenty of local organizations that are willing to give money to students. 8 Rich Relatives. For those of us who are luck enough to have them, a rich relative is a great way to pay for college. Don't be shy, go ahead and ask. I'm sure your education is very important to them. 9 Recycle. All those excess cans and bottles hanging around can help generate a profit. Take advantage of this and you can pocket some extra cash! 10 Sell back your textbooks. Unless it's a book pertaining to your major you should sell your text books back. Take good care of them throughout the year and you can make more money off of them. You can either sell them back to the school which doesn't pay all that much or sell them on ebay, half, or amazon. | | | | | |

| | WOW I am looking for something to help me for college. I just recently had posted a discussion about whether I was too old to finish what I started years ago. Thanks to the great mylotters I have decided to go back. I am 45yrs and really need the help. I signed up for financial aid and my ETC is real high. They took our last years income and came up with that figure. But now my husband is laid off and with his unemployment he barely making a 1/4 of his income for this year. I need a Scholarship or something to help me. How do I go about finding one? Is there a special site that I need to go to or what? | | | | | | |

| | You can either do a google search for scholarships or even join a site like freewebs that can give you a list of scholarships you are eligible. You can even talk to the financial aid department at the school you are interested in and they can give you a list of outside scholarships. I wish you the best of luck! | | | |
