2. sritrinity (200) | 5 months ago | No I don't think he should go down as a legend....but I love his music.
I believe music artists like John Lennon should go down as a legend as they helped to raise awareness and had a huge influence to stop the Vietnam war for example. He used his fame, talent and power to influence the mass to stop wars and question ourselves deeply. Michael did do a few social awareness songs, but nothing very radical or self sacrificing in the way John Lennon did.

MoonGypsy (196) | 5 months ago | yes, also john lennon was not ever brought up on charges for some of the questionable activity that michael jackson was caught up in more than once. so, it is easier to give micheal jackson that title.

4. benny128 (1578) | 5 months ago | jackson was a fantastic singer and artist in his early days, I grew up with his music etc etc.
If he had carried on doing good and being a role model then yes he would be a legend in some peoples eyes. Unfortunatly in his latter years he become a very strange individual with far too many questions hanging over his head.
No one knows for sure whether you are pro or againist michael jackson the truth will never ever be known.
I am a single dad of 3 and I feel sick at the thought of some of his actions and some of the accusations which he made go away by paying the families off.
Unfortunatly he became a so called famour person for the wrong reasons and what he done in his latter years severely tarnished what he done in his eary days.
Though personally I think everyone deserves respect in death but the unanswered questions will never go away even in death.

MoonGypsy (196) | 5 months ago | i also think that someone murdered him for money. someone knew that he would be richer in death than in life, and more famous. but who else would stand to benefit from his death, besides his family, or wife. what would people who worked for him (or who he worked for?) stand to benefit from his death? that's what i am also wondering.

6. MoonGypsy (196) | 5 months ago | my prospective is the same as it always was, as far as his talent. he was probably even more talented as a little boy. that is indisputable. he was very a significant and influential figure in the entertainment industry. he definitely takes the crown, king of pop, and perhaps r&b. by the way, i don't listen to either. nevertheless, he was implicated in allegations of inappropriate behavior with children. i know that he was exonerated, but there are many people who are innocent and jail, or free and guilty. this is because the justice system, as wonderful as it is, is not perfect. furthermore, when there is smoke, there is fire. there has been enough smoke around michael jackson and wrong behavior with children. how do you get accused of the same SERIOUS thing, more than once? i just can't fully feel bad for him, when i really believed he molested those kids. i just can't. im sorry.

luciusaloc (217) | 5 months ago | Thanks for your response and adding a new perspective to it. It would seem clear from the responses that the allegations really did his image alot of damage. Thanks to all who responded to the discussion, your comments were very helpful.

7. gitfiddleplayer (5164) | 5 months ago | I think he is a legend because he is the one who created lasting impressions on music and culture. A lot of rock or pop stars are in it for themselves. He seemed to help people in need although he was limited in public access for his popularity. He did have some legal problems but overall I think his status as a legend is well deserved. Take a look at what he did to merge music and culture.
