I started attending Kaplan University on May 13th, 2009. I am studying Medical Transcription. I have completed my first term. I got a high "A" in Academic Strategies and an "A-" in Medical Law and Ethics. I will be starting Composition II and Medical Terminology on the 29th. I am enjoying this college experience so much.
This is my third time to attend college. I went to college the first time in 1975 and the second time in 1989. I have studied Accounting, Business Law, Computer Operations, and a variety of other subjects. Yes, I have earned my AAS degree in Micro-Computer Operations. Now I am adding to my education.
What are you studying? What degree are you working on? How many times have you attended college?

No. It is transcribing the verbal dictation that doctors and health care personnel record. The written transcription becomes part of your medical record for future reference. Your medical record can also be subpoenaed for court cases such as insurance suits.

BTW, the doctor or hospital owns the medical record. You own the information in that record.

I started college in 1975 too. I went the once, got a very (?) useful degree in German, graduated and never looked back. In retrospect, there are some things I didn't study that I wish I had, but hey, that's something I can look forward to when the kids are grown up!

Don't wait. Go to college online. I am attending Kaplan University. The school is in Florida and I am in Michigan. It is an accredited school and my credits from my previous college transferred. You and your kids can do your homework together. Your kids will learn to compete with you to get better grades. It is a huge boost of encouragement for your children. If mom can do it, so can they.

You know, it is never too late to get your GED. Then you can go to college. I just turned 52 years old last week. Trust me. It is never too late. You can learn something new each and every day of your life. You will die rich........rich in knowledge. No one can ever take your knowledge away from you. I hope you do not give up. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and try again.
