We all know that vitamin supplements through natural diet help to improve health. For instance, VC is good for skin, VA good for eyes and hair, VD good for bones, and adequate iodine intake good for brain, etc. When you are expecting a baby, do you mind your diet? Would you take care of favorable natural diet for sake of gene inheritence?

i have read an article published online at Time magazine weeks ago this month. it reported a new finding that mothers' exposure to high levels of environmental pollutants during pregnancy will lead to a four-point drop in children's IQ scores by age 5. one cause of this decline is that the pollutants affect the development of brain. so if nutritious food are provided to mothers during pregnancy and the newborn, it will surely be beneficial to the development of the fetus and newborn. i am not sure whether there is a definite relationship between diet and genetic inheritance and if so how much the influence might be, but i suppose there should be. a child gets all the genetic information from his/her parents, but it doesnot mean that all these information will be interpreted in the same way as their parents' do even without consideration of the influence of gene variation, because environmental factors and diet do have effects on the outcome. that is, they will affect the expression of certain genes even though the sequences of these genes are the same between a child and his/her parents. for adults, unless these factors have affected the state of the germ cell, the genetic material will be passed down without any changes to the child, who, however, will be affected again by these factors.

I think you are what you eat,at least health wise. I also think taking care of yourself ,with nutritious food will give a baby a great start in life.I am to old to think about babies again ,but have eaten healthy with pregnancy. Its important to keep it up after the baby is born. They do what they see,and eat what they know.
