How often do you trim/cut your hair? |
|
I have straight long hair but develop split ends very soon. The tip of the hair gets worn out and i stop making plait with it and make buns (which actually makes the tip even more weak). Then today i got it trimmed and my mom cut 2-3 inches from teh tip of my hair. My mom became to sentimental and was feeling bad that i cut my hair. She even went to the extent of shedding a tear over it!I remember the last time i cut my hair (which was say last year around this time, and cut it to waist length) my mom had the same reaction - LOL. So how often do you cut/trim you hair? Do you think it is apart of your hair maintenance?

1. jessi0887 (2507) | 5 months ago | I dont get my hair cut often. There are plenty of reasons. One having the time to get it done. Two having the money to get it properly done. And three fear of it being messed up when they get done. I may get my hair cut two or three times a year if that.

divkris (782) | 5 months ago | I personally believe (& mother too does) that our body (whic also include hair) is a gift given to us by MOther Nature and we shoudl see to it that we do atleast a regular maintainance to it. Time is not an excuse - probably taking initiative to keep oneself healthy and fit can help us lead a healthy life. Remember everything starts with the mane:)

divkris (782) | 5 months ago | Many people adore long hair and crave to have one but due to genetic reasons and many other environmental factors one may not be able to grow their hair long - i generally say al my friends "Be happy with what you have" and try to maintain it. It is a healthy to trim/cut your hair once in 3-4 months. THanks for responding.

3. Wizzywig (2801) | 5 months ago | I just get the scissors and cut bits off as and when I feel like it. Sometimes its to tidy the ends or to change the look a bit, others it may be to take some of the weight from round my neck by thinning it. Its currently only just long enough to have to tie it back for work.
| |
| |
|
|
divkris (782) | 5 months ago | hey wizzywig you seem to be very much like my cousin. She simply takes the scissor in her hands and cuts her hair - needless to say the spranking she gets from her mother for this (she is only 10 years old) - LOL
But i personally think that even though trimming hair regularly is healthy for your hair, trimming it very often can make the hair stop growing. - Like my mother say "the hair may get frightened" - LOL - but it is true; probably our hair feels unwanted and gets depressed about hte issue and stops growing;) - MOM i'm sorry, this is just for fun!

4. dmrone (688) | 5 months ago | Hi! I have my hair cut several times a year, and i cut it some at home. My hair is so thick that even when it is short it still sweats. I cannot stand to have sweaty smelling hair, even though i wash it several times a day. I am lucky, because i was born into a family of beauticians, and one of them is always free to cut my hair. It does cost to have my hair cut, but sometimes that is better than having someone i do not know or trust to butcher it. Have a good day.

divkris (782) | 5 months ago | LOL- i lilked the way you said that "butcher it!" - LOL
Good to know that you come from a family of beauticians. Though my mom is not technically a beautician -but she is the MOM - so she knows to do everything for her family and kids in this world, like superman - LOL
Jokes apart, i liek when my mom trims it for me and would you believe that i have never been to a parlor except to get my brow done! Thanks for sharing with us an interestign thought:)

5. radx682 (288) | 5 months ago | I trim my hair once in 2 months. I have a short hair and I like to experiment with my hair.
Sometimes I hav step cut, straight cut, straighten it...etc..etc. I think it is kind of hair maintenance. I do not like split ends or hair growing irregularly..so maintaining a proper and neat shape is important for me:-)

|
|
divkris (782) | 5 months ago | Oh! i wish i could do that - experiment with your hair. Rather people with long hair can afford to experiment because they are assured of the hair growing back to normal! But my mom believes that all this experimentation will only scare your hair and it will never grow back again:S - a typical mom, isn't it?

ChrysanTflower (1093) | 5 months ago | waw.. I always wanna have a bit curly hair than my straight hair.. You should feel happy with curly hair. I have a plan to make my hair curly and the price to have curly hair quiet expensive for me,,
| |
|
|
divkris (782) | 5 months ago | I love curly hair - though i do understand that it is at times very difficult to manage curly hair. So the best way is to keep them short and have a regular maintenance done:)

7. jofeli (332) | 5 months ago | I have no exact schedule for trimming or cutting hair. Usually when I feel like I want to, but probably around 6 months I will have my hair cut. I have long thick hair and sometimes I have to spend extra time to taking care of the hair, and when I come to the salon they will spend more time for cutting my hair because of its thickness... Geez... Oh yeah, if you still have split ends you should try to use hair conditioner, or hair mask. I believe that your hair type is dry so it will need some moisture. Thanks...

divkris (782) | 5 months ago | Many people cut thier hair because they are not able to manage it daily. Many are workin women who prefer short hair that can be easily tied in their busy schedule! I think every one of us SHOULD take some reasonable time out of our busy schedule to maintain our hair. After all everthing starts from the mane;)

8. ChrysanTflower (1093) | 5 months ago | I cut my hair once every 2 months to get rid of all the split ends. I had the same hair problem like you, split ends. My hair long and straight too. the split make my hair looks messy. Now I use one brand of shampoo and conditioner and seems like I've chosen the right product^^,, I have a creambath once every 2 weeks and hair mask once every 2 months,, I found this is help to reduce my split ends and other hair problem. I try not to make buns too because it makes my hair easily fall.. Maybe you should start your routine hair maintenance,,lol,, try it!^^,,

divkris (782) | 5 months ago | I think your hair is dry in nature and this is why you need to have regular sessions of maintenance. Do you apply oil regularly to your scalp - oil acts as a natural conditioner and helps in reducing split neds and other problems that most dry hair face.:)

10. bjcyrix (2889) | 5 months ago | I dont have a specific routine or time of year/month that I get a hair trim. I just go to the salon for trimming whenever I feel that my hair has enough length for being a nuisance. Longer hair does need more care, attention, and more time to spend on it. Time isnt really that 'loose' for me so to speak that I can afford to lavish overly taking care of my hair. It is our crowning glory but just enough maintenance is advisable. That works for me anyway.^_^

divkris (782) | 5 months ago | Good that you are happy with short hair and i do understand that maintaining long hair is not everyone's cup of tea. Thanks for responding:)

bjcyrix (2889) | 5 months ago | You're quite welcome. I actually have shoulder length hair. Its long enough to sometimes use as a shade for my face whenever I forget my umbrella. But its short enough that I can manage it.^_^
