sad to see my "pooh" getting old

My poor cat is getting old...no longer wants to go outside as much, and is sleeping all day. He has a cataract in one eye, and I'm not sure the other one is doing so good, either. He seems to bump into things more often. He walks very slow, and doesn't like climbing as much as he used, I fear that he may have arthiritis in his legs. I don't know if his hearing is going also, because he seems to jump everytime I go to him, even though I make alot of noise to make sure he senses me near him, so he doesn't frighten. The good thing is, he is eating just as much as he once was, so I don't thing he has some terrible disease or sickness. I just think he is being hit with old age. We took "pooh" in after seeing him at our door numerous times. I never wanted a cat again, after the last one died 15 years ago - it tore me apart. But watching him at my door, was torturing me. Days after letting him in, I found him jumping on me so I could rub and scratch him...that's when I knew what kind of cat he was. He is the most loving animal I have ever experienced. He loves to sit on my lap, and I have to go thru the whole ritual of scratching his ears, massaging his head, and back, and tenderly rubbing his cheeks. When I do that, it mesmorizes him. He's got the softest coat of fur, and is the cleanest cat I've seen. Last time I took him to the vets, they told me that he was way over 10 years. So he must be at least 15 if not more. It will be a truly sad day, when I have to put him to sleep....a day I don't even want to think about. I will certainly need you people to cry too, when that day comes.

Sorry to hear about Pooh. I remember when my beloved cat became ill. He deteriorated so quickly, it was awful having to let him go, as he had been there a long time in my life and was so beautiful. I still miss him now even with my other three cats to keep me company. They leave a big hole in your heart when they go. He was just so wonderful.

Old age is no fun, for humans or animals.
