I know I keep banging on about this lovely little village I live in kent.It looks like no more peaceful living. We are being invaded by gypsys right by the local park.Someone sold a bit of land {a whole field]because he could not get legal planning permission to build a house,so he sold it to a lot of travellers ,you know the type don't think the law applys to them. They are moving trailers in right in front of houses that people spent a fortune on.We are looking forward to having our garden sheds broke into, piles of stinking rubbish as the dustman won't call at the site as they don't pay local taxes, barking dogs. The land is green belt which means no building of residential properties at all.Right by the school ,so they will be broken into on a regular basis, the police are frightened of the gypsys, we have seen this before in other places, one of the guys walks around in his vest drinking beer from a bottle.Boy is our peaceful existence going to change.Apart from the peace and quite being destroyed we live near to the local pub.I have just answered a discussion from someone else who is fed up with where she is living, and now I find this out.Property prices will take a dive who will want to live here now,we are a beauty spot by the river and no one will want to holiday here anymore. The local council are getting a case together to remove them ,but it is their land.

That's terrible SUZZY. I'M SO SORRY. tHAT'S A ShaME THAT IS HAPPENING TO YOUR BEAUTIFUL NEIGHBORHOOD. That is a good example of the ol' saying one bad apple can spoil the barrel. I hope the council can come up w/a good solution. U know they know they want be welcome . I wouldn't want to live somewhere i wasn't welcome. I have heard of gypsies all my life but have never had any dealings w/them. GOOD LUCK.

I have emailed the council with my objections and also the parish council, the more object to the gypsies the better.I have no illusion it will get rough around here for a while. It is going to be a bumpy road, maybe they will get the message and clear off.The field is filling up with trailers at the moment,no proper toilets or sanitation no rubbish collection at the site, only one tap, goodness we live just outside of sight and smell but will hear the noise.must get ear plugs. Thanks for reply suzzyxx

Hi suzzy3, I think its disgusting ot the land owner in the first place to sell it to the gypsys, it just seem terrible that he didn't care about the land and its all money, and its seems these gypsys seems to have money so why don't they buy a house just like anyone else, I can't underst why they have to be dirty as well and cause so my trouble, lets hope the counscil can do something about it. Apparently they paid an agent to buy the land on their behalf the gypsys never went to the auction, they even have a solicitor trying to change the planning permission talk about take money from the devil,my friend is on the parish council and says the gypsies know more than the council do about the law.The man that sold the land had no idea who had brought the land,he lives local as well and he won't be able to sell his house either,he is in the same boat as us having to face the fact our properties are virtually worthless ,all the time these people are here.

I think that so long as they act within the law, pay their Council Tax etc then there's very little that you can do. If the land if Green Belt then the Council should be able to do something. But it will take time. However, has anybody thought about being NICE to them? Perhaps if they can be persuaded to live harmoniously with others in the village they will literally clean themselves up and not be the eyesore that folk expect them to be. We have every kind of "traveller" that you can think of round here - good and bad. Generally speaking it's not them that cause trouble but gangs that come from the Midlands to burgle for a week and then disappear back home. Good luck anyway.

Wow..that's terrible. I would think the guy selling the property would have been a little more considerate on the town. Maybe they will get bored and move on. They are known to travel right? I hope the council figures something out.
