2. Second, universal health care clearly would drive our country deeper into debt,
Oh dear how sad poor little America can't afford what most of the civilised world does -didums
4. Fourth, universal health care ultimately would limit the competitive market of health care.
Yet public health care in Europe provides the same service at a fraction of the cost of your American system. Look at the facts not the free market dogma; public medicine is cheaper!
6. universal health care would increase big government, and America would continue on the slippery slope toward socialism.
HA HA HA HA HA, grow up America and join the civilised world

Well, instead of being so sarcastic and having a nasty attitude, why don't you tell us about your supposedly free health care system in the United Kingdom?
We're suppose to join the rest of the world? Why should we if it's not a good thing? You sound like misery loves company.

Please read with more care, I was pointing out that the arguments used in the article were poor but if you are happy to go on believing the spin of your insurance companies who are making money hand over fist out of your expensive health system then I am happy to let you waste your money. I do however, feel sorry for those poor in US deprived of adequate medical care by your barbaric system

Barbaric health system?
Hey, I use the heck out of that health system. I just last year had back surgery to the tune of about $75 thousand and it only cost me a $200 deductable. I've had six surgeries all on that barbaric system and no waiting for months to get them either.
How long does it take to get in to see a specialist in your country? How long to get tests like an MRI? I can get one the next day. How much do you pay in income tax?
Why do people from other countries come here to get medical care?
Neither my sister nor my mother had health insurance and they still got the care they needed.

Could you list those six reasons in your discussion?

Thank you for the reply Lakota...
I will come back to this when I have more time...
Hi WhiteHeather,
No my response did not deserve a minus (-) but yours certainly did and I did not (-) minus your response! What a mean thing to write... If you knew me better you would know that I have been working a lot of hours this week as one week we are slow and the next we are busy and you go with the flow trying to profit where and when the money is available. Certainly it is not beyond my intellectual ability to read the article and in fact I like to read what Mr. Chuck Norris writes... I am very concerned about our Health Care industry and the psychology of those getting wealthy for a service that everyone should be entitled to for free. Our whole economy really needs to be restructured to provide the most productive and adequate care for everyone and if we can solve this problem we can lead the world into a new era of peace and prosperity for all...

Your response definitely deserves a minus (-) rating. What a stupid request when the answer is in the link....which you obviously did not bother to read. I'm sure the article is not beyond your intellectual capabilities!! At least I hope not!

Thanks for posting this discussion. As usual Norris hits the nail on the head. The links he posted in his article are excellent. I wonder if Norris will get trashed for his views just as Pat Boone is getting trashed for being one of the many who question Obama's birth certificate.
BTW thanks for the interesting email.

Those are good reasons. The government will decide whether or not you are worthy to get treatment. And it will cost, not only because it will come out of your taxes, but that there are some that will take advantage of it, those who will go to the emergency with just a paper cut. Insurance medical insurance has to be well thought of, it is supposed to be for those who need it, not for the abusers. And what happens when you cannot properly treat the critically ill and those who need care? I am a Canadian and even though my husband possibly has ALS and needs an MRI and other tests to determine what extent damage is being done to him and how long potentially he has, there is only one MRI machine because of all the others who should have paid $10 or nominal fee are getting treated for free and the machines needed for people with catastrophic conditions they cannot afford.
Unfair though the US system was with so many poor not able to afford medical treatment, the rich were already paying for the machines, and they were willing to do so. With Obama-Care there will be no rich guy donating a million dollar to a hospital, Obama-Care will determine who and what gets what and it will be based on finances not care.
