I have always wondered the exact same thing. I think of the subject with two sets of mind though. I think about how perfect my life might be right now by growing up through my past with the "right set of mind" knowing the consequences of almost every decision, but then i reconsider and think about how that might of changed me and who i am today. You are who you are today because of your wrong decisions. We look back at our past with regrets because of the good people we have become(depending on the individuals regrets) from the very bad decisions we wish we would not have ever of made.

As we have all learned over the years, every small decision eventually affects someone or something in someway which eventually leads to an impact on the world.
